Air Liquide Makes €70 Million Investment in Kazakhstan

Air Liquide, one of the world's leading companies in industrial gases, has signed a new investment worth EUR 70 million to expand its operations in Kazakhstan. Under a long-term agreement signed with Silleno LLP, the company will supply industrial gases to one of the country's largest petrochemical projects.

Air Liquide, a leading global industrial gases company, has signed a EUR 70 million investment agreement to expand its operations in Kazakhstan. Under a long-term agreement with Silleno LLP, the company will supply industrial gases to one of the country's largest petrochemical projects.

The investment will be implemented by Air Liquide Karabatan Tech Gases LLP (ALKTG), Air Liquide's subsidiary in Kazakhstan. As part of the project, two new high-purity, energy-efficient nitrogen production units will be built to supply nitrogen and dry compressed air to the Silleno polyethylene facility upon its future commissioning. The facilities are scheduled to come on stream by the end of 2028.

The new production facilities will be constructed in the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark (NIPT) Special Economic Zone in the Atyrau region. This investment continues Air Liquide's first investment in the Mangystau Basin in 2019 and will significantly increase the company's production capacity in Central Asia.

Émilie Mouren-Renouard, Member of the Executive Committee and Head of Central Asia Operations at Air Liquide, stated in her assessment of the investment that the company has reached a new milestone in its long-term growth strategy in Kazakhstan and will further strengthen its strategic partnerships with long-time business partner KazMunayGas. Mouren-Renouard emphasized that the investment will contribute to the development of the country's petrochemical sector and represents an important example of their strategy that combines technological expertise with regional impact.

Operating in Kazakhstan since 2016, Air Liquide aims with this investment to expand industrial gas infrastructure in the country while supporting the transformation of the Mangystau Basin into a world-scale petrochemical hub.
