WPI Expands Scope of EVOM™
World Precision Instruments (WPI) has announced an expansion of EVOM™ Auto capacity, enabling the product to now deliver both 24 and 96 multiwell plate capacity on a single platform.
EVOM™ Auto provides rapid and reproducible measurements of Transepithelial Electrical Resistance (TEER), an established, non-invasive and widely accepted method for evaluating epithelial and endothelial cells and tissues.
WPI's EVOM™ Auto combines TEER technology with high-throughput screening capabilities, enabling automated measurements of tissue and monolayer barrier integrity, cell permeability and cell confluence.
EVOM™ Auto is designed to read the critical physiology of barrier tissues such as the blood-brain barrier, gastrointestinal system, lungs and skin, and provides a rapid and efficient platform for work ranging from basic research to drug development.
Dr. Adrienne Watson, Chief Scientific Officer at WPI, said: "As we continue to advance our TEER product offerings, we are excited to offer the added capability of performing automated TEER measurements in both 24 and 96 multiwell plate formats on EVOM™ Auto. 24-well plates are commonly used for 3D tissue models and cell treatments, and EVOM™ Auto enables our customers to perform rapid, non-invasive measurements of barrier integrity and cell confluence."

Other features of EVOM™ include market-leading compatibility with all 24 and 96 multiwell cell culture plates, electrode disinfection during measurement, wireless device control and the ability to fit inside a sterile cell culture hood or incubator.
