Anton Paar, which provides solutions for laboratory and process measurements across numerous industries from food to pharmaceuticals, cosmetics to chemicals, and the environment to petroleum, began offering sales and technical service in the field of mechanical measurements on surfaces and coatings with CSM Instruments, a Swiss company it acquired in 2014.
In addition to our existing users, we continue to grow rapidly in this field with new customers joining our portfolio.
In our new group called Anton Paar TriTec, we offer indentation (hardness), scratch, tribology, coating thickness measurement instruments, as well as 3D imaging equipment.
Indentation (Hardness) Measurement Instruments:
This group includes high-precision measurement instruments used to determine mechanical properties such as hardness, elastic modulus, fracture toughness, etc. of thin films, coatings and substrates ranging from ultra-nano to micro scale. The Ultranano Indentation Test Instrument (UNHT) is an ultra-high resolution nano indenter used to investigate the mechanical properties of nanoscale materials. Its patented active surface referencing system eliminates the effects of thermal drift. It is ideal for long-term measurement of all types of materials, including polymers, very thin layers and soft tissues. The Nano Indentation Test Instrument (NHT2) is designed to provide low-load depth measurement for measuring nanoscale hardness, elastic modulus, creep, etc. The system is used to characterize organic, inorganic, hard and soft materials. With the upper surface referencing technique, indentation measurement can be performed within 3 minutes without waiting for thermal equilibration. The Micro Indentation Test Instrument (MHT) is ideal for measuring mechanical properties such as hardness and elastic modulus of thin hard coatings, thick soft coatings, bulk materials with hard coatings such as HVD and CVD, and ceramic surface layers. The instrument provides accurate and reproducible values.Scratch Test Instruments:
This group includes ideal test instruments for characterizing surface mechanical properties such as adhesion, scratch resistance, mar resistance, cracking and deformation of thin films and coatings ranging from nano to macro scale. The Nano Scratch Test Instrument (NST) is particularly suitable for characterizing the adhesion strength and mar (scratch) resistance of thin films and coatings with thickness typically below 1000 nm. It can be used for analysis of organic and inorganic coatings, soft and hard coatings. The Micro Scratch Test Instrument (MST) is used to characterize the adhesion strength of thin films and coatings with thickness typically below 5 μm. It is also used for analysis of organic and inorganic soft or hard coatings. The Macro Scratch Test Instrument (RST) Revetest is widely used for characterization of hard-coated materials with thickness typically ranging from 1 μm to 1 mm. This group includes surface characterization instruments used to determine the coefficient of friction, wear amount, lifetime tests and tribological behavior of thin films, coatings and substrates of varying thicknesses from nanometer to millimeter scale. The Nano Tribometer (NTR2) is designed to investigate surface interactions such as coefficient of friction and wear under low contact pressure. This instrument is particularly suitable for applications involving soft layers or lubricants. The NTR2 combines the resolution of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) with the stability, robustness and ease of use of standard pin-on-disk tribometers. Instruments called pin-on-disk or ball-on-disk tribometers (TRB) are the industry standard for measuring friction and wear in sliding contacts. A wide range of test parameters, contact geometries and environmental conditions allow users to simulate the real working conditions of the material being tested. Anton Paar tribometers have proven themselves in more than 1000 laboratories worldwide for investigating every class of bearing material. These instruments provide a fast, simple and economical solution for determining coating thickness and wear resistance. Using the simple ball crater opening method, the thickness of any type of single or multi-layer coating is measured in a short time in accordance with relevant international standards. 3D Imaging (AFM, Conscan Microscope and Profilometer): For advanced topographic characterization, nano microscopy, 3D topography and profile measurement are used on the same platforms as the instruments mentioned above, enabling precise results in coating characterization.Gallery
