Endress+Hauser Launches New Pressure Transmitters
New Cerabar and Deltabar help enhance process safety for people, environment and assets
Endress+Hauser is launching new Cerabar and Deltabar pressure transmitters. Equipped with various intelligent safety features to help minimize systematic errors during commissioning and maintenance, users benefit from increased safety in production processes. Integrated Heartbeat Technology provides the foundation for predictive maintenance and allows verification of device functionality without process interruption. It also supports identification of process anomalies and provides additional process information to ensure operational efficiency. With a Bluetooth interface, the pressure transmitters are easy to use and maintenance is efficient in safety-critical systems. Following Endress+Hauser's intelligent safety approach that increases plant availability, high safety levels are combined with advanced productivity. In recent years, the proportion of safety-critical systems in the chemical industry and the number of complex proof tests have increased significantly. However, higher maintenance requirements in these areas should not become an obstacle to plant availability. Efficient operation concepts prevent systematic errors in device configuration, maintain the plant's high safety level, and simultaneously reduce maintenance costs. This applies to both commissioning and field service.Safe by design
The new pressure instrumentation family offers guided steps for commissioning, SIL parameter setup and SIL proof testing. These guides, called wizards, direct the user step-by-step through the test procedure. Upon completion of the test, a report is automatically generated and can be downloaded and visualized via the Bluetooth interface and Endress+Hauser SmartBlue application or through DTM-based configuration tools. Another feature developed to minimize systematic errors is an automatically generated checksum parameter (CRC). The CRC is derived from the settings of all safety-related parameters and recorded in the protocol. When even a single parameter is changed, the checksum changes, thereby accelerating the verification process. A backlit colored display provides safety at a glance. When an anomaly or failure occurs in the process, the display color changes from green to red and the alarm status is visible from up to 10 m away. The new product families have been developed in accordance with IEC 61508. This enables direct use in SIL2 applications. In SIL3 applications, the devices can be used in homogeneous redundancy.Unlock your IIoT potential The "Process Sensors 4.0" roadmap created by NAMUR specifies three main criteria for digital process sensors: wireless communication, sensor diagnostics and provision of sensor and process-related information. With optionally available Bluetooth and Heartbeat Technology functions, the new Cerabar and Deltabar product groups meet these criteria.
For example, Heartbeat Technology supports maintenance personnel in verifying measurement points. This can be done with a single touch on the SmartBlue application via Bluetooth connection. Verification can be completed in less than three minutes without process interruption. A verification protocol providing detailed information about all tests is automatically generated. This is based on the continuous self-diagnostic function in the pressure transmitters. As a result, a diagnostic coverage of over 95 percent is achieved. With this information, it is possible to plan system revisions and maintenance work for the measuring devices in advance and reduce downtime. This significantly simplifies maintenance processes. Heartbeat Technology also provides users with the scope they need through data-driven process information to optimize their production. It provides transparency on the status of the measuring devices and the process. However, Heartbeat Technology can do more. It detects irregularities in the process, for example, deviations indicating cable faults in circuit resistance. For instance, capillary tubes blocked as a result of crystallization are detected by differential pressure transmitters. This data provides the foundation for predictive maintenance.Easy operation increases productivity
Endress+Hauser has simplified the new Cerabar and Deltabar pressure measurement products to meet increasing demands for ease of use. This approach is reflected in the pressure sensor's intuitive operation via the SmartBlue application, which also includes guided steps for commissioning. This is made possible with an additional Bluetooth interface that bridges distances of up to 25 m. Thus, maintenance of measurement points in areas that are difficult to reach or hazardous is made easier, even if they are only integrated into the process via a 4-20 mA interface. Additionally, the wizards can also be used with DTM and EDD-based tools. Personnel do not need to open the enclosure or connect cables. Real-time data from the pressure transmitter is always accessible. The Bluetooth connection has a special protocol that meets increasing security requirements in industrial applications. The Fraunhofer Institute AISEC tested the interface for protection level and rated the protocol and algorithm as "high".Advantages at a glance
