Number of R&D Centers in Bursa on the Rise
The number of R&D and design centers operating in Bursa to support export and innovation-focused production has increased from 23 to 160 over a 7-year period.
The number of R&D centers in the city, which stood at 23 in 2014, increased approximately sevenfold over 7 years through the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the advantages offered by the "R&D Reform Package," and support from Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO). The city is home to 130 R&D centers and 30 design centers.
In Bursa, "Turkey's automotive hub," 54 R&D centers serve the automotive and automotive supplier industries, 28 operate in machinery and equipment manufacturing, and 17 operate in textiles. R&D centers also serve industry in the fields of computer and communications technologies, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, maritime, foundry, electrical-electronics, energy, food, air conditioning, manufacturing, chemicals, furniture, engineering-architecture activities, plastics-rubber, agriculture and software.
