Beckman Launches Microbioreactor Light Module

Beckman Launches Light Array Module for Microbioreactor Laboratory automation and innovation leader Beckman Coulter Life Sciences has introduced a new light array module developed for the BioLector XT microbioreactor. This advancement enables working with light-dependent organisms that require photosynthesis for growth. The light array module offers adjustable lighting settings in the photosynthetic spectrum of 400-700 nm (nanometers), including day and night illumination modes. Spectral flexibility is achieved through 16 different LED types, each individually controlled to achieve maximum irradiance and photon flux densities up to 3500 μmol/m2/s (micromoles per square meter per second). Simon Briel, Product Manager for BioLector XT Microbioreactor, stated: "This new and powerful feature provides customers with a unique advantage using the latest technology to drive action on their next major projects. Our light array module provides researchers with customized lighting for organisms growing within the microbioreactor and enables photosynthesis for the first time, allowing continuous, deeper analysis and more efficient reporting." This advancement offers high-throughput screening and process optimization for various phototrophic organisms, including microalgae and cyanobacteria. Using real-time biomass, chlorophyll concentration and fluorescence measurements, the BioLector XT Microbioreactor with LAM provides users with real-time data without requiring pipetting of samples for analysis.
