Next Generation 4D Retinol: Eastman GEM Retinyl Sunflowerate Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin obtained from animal and plant sources. Vitamin A helps regulate the immune system, protects skin and tissue, and supports healthy teeth and good appearance. Retinoids are a chemical class of Vitamin A. Retinoids are metabolized in the skin as follows:

Why Eastman?

Eastman IP and Patented Technology; Over 10 Years of Production Experience Because retinol is UV-sensitive and oxidatively unstable, the derivation and production of retinoids is extremely difficult. Eastman GEM™ retinyl sunflowerate is produced using GEM™ technology, which is protected by US patent 7,566,795 (preparation of retinyl esters). This process adheres to the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry and consumes less energy, uses less process water, and generates less waste compared to conventional production processes.
What is EASTMAN GEM™ Retinyl Sunflowerate?
A mixture formed by esterification of sunflower oil with retinol. • INCI - retinyl sunflowerseedate • CAS Number: 2243583-93-7 - UVCB Substance • Bio-based content: 47% renewable carbon
Clinical Study
Conducted by Princeton Clinical Research Laboratory (PCR). Duration: 12 weeks Number of subjects: 37 subjects completed the study. Subject characteristics: Healthy female volunteers, aged 30-65, with fine lines indicating skin aging on facial skin. Fitzpatrick skin types I-V were included. Method: Subjects were graded in the table below and provided with a cream to be used twice daily throughout the 12-week study period. Clinical evaluations included expert assessment of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin tone uniformity at baseline, week 6, and week 12, as well as profilometry analysis of silicon replicas taken from the crow's feet area at baseline and week 12. Subjects completed a sensory evaluation questionnaire at week 6 and at the conclusion of the 12-week study.
Formulation-Clinical Study
In this retinyl sunflowerate formulation, 2-ethylhexyl palmitate and other carriers were used in the preparation of a liquid crystal-layered phase emulsion to enable better transfer of lipophilic actives such as retinyl sunflowerate. This liquid crystal emulsion structure exhibits greater moisturizing properties and excellent resistance to wear compared to conventional emulsions.
Clinical Results
Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles; improvement in even skin tone appearance. Number of subjects: 37 subjects completed the study. Fine lines: Visual grading showed a positive trend at week 6 with a 25% improvement in fine lines. At the end of week 12, visual assessments showed a 57% improvement. Wrinkles: Visual grading showed a positive trend at week 6 with a 15% improvement in wrinkles. At the end of week 12, visual assessments showed a 41% improvement. Skin tone uniformity: Visual grading showed a positive trend at week 6 with a 17% improvement in skin tone uniformity. At the end of week 12, visual assessments showed a 33% improvement. hRIPT: Irritation Study (with clinical formulation) 54 subjects: Zero Irritation The objective of this study was to investigate the irritation and sensitization potential of the product tested in healthy volunteers through repeated cutaneous occlusive patch applications based on the modified Draize method of Jordan and King (1977) to support claims such as "Dermatologically Tested," "Clinically Tested," "Does Not Irritate Skin," "Safe for Skin," and "Dermatologist Approved." 54 subjects completed the study. No adverse events or reactions were reported (tested 100% non-irritating). The tested product can be considered safe for use under the study conditions, and claims such as "Dermatologically Tested," "Clinically Tested," "Sensitive Skin," "Safe for Skin," and "Dermatologist Approved" have been substantiated. Summary Compared with retinol and retinyl palmitate: • Retinol: irritating, unstable, difficult to use, • Retinyl palmitate – minimal anti-aging efficacy. Key Features • Bio-based; bio-sourced sunflower oil, • Pro-retinol anti-aging ingredient, • Clinically proven results on fine lines, wrinkles, and even skin tone, • Gentle on skin; non-irritating, • Stable shelf life, • High purity; no fillers or diluents, • Easy-to-use fluid, • Produced with Eastman GEM™ technology, • Does not yellow; formulations do not yellow.
