Digital Library for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Being Established Prof. Dr. Nazan Demir, Director of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Cosmetic Products Application and Research Center (KOZMER), stated that Turkey's first digital library for medicinal and aromatic plant products will be established through a project submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Noting that the Cosmetic Products Application and Research Center is Turkey's first academic center in this field, Prof. Dr. Demir stated, "The center has begun operating much more actively since the pandemic. An additional building was constructed. This made it possible to carry out large-scale, machine-based production. Now we are producing quantities measured in thousands. During the pandemic period, we produced significant quantities of organic colognes, organic disinfectants, organic disinfectants containing thyme sage, and liquid soap within the institution, and we continue to produce them. The work we do here, this center is the first academic unit and the first academic center in the cosmetics field across the entire country." "Turkey's first medicinal and aromatic plant digital library is being established" Stating that they submitted a project to the Ministry of Industry and Technology through a company operating at TEKNOPARK Istanbul for the creation of Turkey's first digital library, Demir said, "Currently, I have submitted an application and have an approved project through a company operating at TEKNOPARK Istanbul to the Ministry of Industry and Technology. We are establishing a digital library. We are creating Turkey's first digital library for medicinal and aromatic products. We are creating a special database that makes this data available to everyone, but under certain passwords and rules, we are opening it to the entire world. The information we obtain, the flowers we collect for controlled use, we are making available not only to our country and region, but on a global scale." Muğla is a medicinal and aromatic plant haven Noting that the Muğla region is rich in medicinal and aromatic terms, Prof. Dr. Demir said, "There are many plants currently used in production here. Some of them are medicinal plants, some are aromatic plants, some are used solely for fragrance, some for color purposes. This is an orchid paradise. There are orchids, poppies, tulips, lilies, violets. I believe we have reached a level of capability in this regard that no other center in our country could achieve."
