Thermal Water-Based Shampoo Developed

Turkish scientists develop thermal water-based shampoo. Results of a clinical observation study on the thermal water-based shampoo developed by Turkish scientists have been accepted by a dermatology journal published in Italy. The shampoo was produced using thermal water at Biotin Laboratories as an anti-dandruff and intensive anti-dandruff treatment. Bioxcin Aqua-Thermal Shampoo, produced by Biota R&D Laboratories, was developed using sulfur-rich thermal water from Göynük, Bolu. The clinical efficacy research of this shampoo was conducted by Associate Professor Dr. Erkin Pekmezci, dermatologist. This clinical efficacy data was published in Europe.

Effectiveness Against Dandruff Confirmed

The results of the study were accepted by the Italian scientific journal 'Esperienze Dermatologiche'. Through the article titled 'Cosmetic antidandruff shampoo found far more effective than ketokonazole shampoo: probable contribution of thermal mineral water' published in the journal, it was scientifically confirmed that 'Bioxcin Aqua-Thermal Anti-Dandruff Shampoo' is up to 100 percent effective against dandruff.

More Effective Than Medical Shampoo

The clinical observation study involved a total of 30 volunteers consisting of 15 women and 15 men who experienced severe dandruff problems. Biota Scientific Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Murat Türkoğlu made comments regarding the research. Türkoğlu stated, "Our product developed with sulfur-containing thermal waters from Göynük, Bolu was tested by Associate Professor Dr. Erkin Pekmezci in individuals with mild and severe dandruff issues after notifications were submitted to the Ministry of Health. Volunteers participating in the test were informed that they would be given a shampoo specially formulated for their complaints. In the control group, which included a medical anti-dandruff shampoo used for the same complaints, participants were asked to apply the given shampoo three times over one week with 2-3 day intervals and to let their hair remain foamy for 3-4 minutes with each use before rinsing. Evaluation was conducted according to parameters of scaling, crusting, erythema and itching before and after product application. Results were evaluated statistically. Following the evaluation, both products tested showed significant improvement levels in terms of erythema, scaling, crusting and itching, while Bioxcin Aqua-Thermal Shampoo was found to have a higher effect compared to the medical shampoo. After clinical tests, Bioxcin Aqua-Thermal Anti-Dandruff Shampoo was shown to have effects reaching up to 100 percent in dandruff and severe dandruff problems."
