Sapro Wins Sustainable Environment Award

Sapro, a Turkish wet wipe manufacturer, achieved a major milestone by receiving a bronze medal at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) annual Sustainability Awards. Sapro launched production of Turkey's first biodegradable wet wipes earlier this year, with initial output expected by the end of 2021. Sapro, which dominates 40% of Turkey's private label sector and exports its products to over 70 countries, won the award through its innovative project. The company, which made a significant investment in developing sustainable and environmentally friendly products, received a bronze medal in the "Environment and Social Innovation" category at the EBRD's annual Sustainability Awards.   As Europe's 4th largest manufacturer of private label wet wipes, Sapro took a major step toward sustainable, environmentally friendly products when it obtained a EUR 21 million investment credit in November 2020 through a joint initiative of the EBRD and Turkey's Industrial Development Bank (TSKB) for biodegradable wet wipe production. With this credit, the company began installation of state-of-the-art machinery needed to produce biodegradable, nature-friendly, sustainability-supporting wet wipes, with Turkey's first environmentally friendly wet wipes expected to reach consumers by year-end. Sapro Board Chairman Ceyhun Zincirkıran expressed great satisfaction at receiving this award. Emphasizing that the world, particularly with the pandemic, is now turning increasingly toward environmentally friendly products, Ceyhun Zincirkıran stated: "Since our founding, Sapro's goal has been to provide consumers with the best products while leaving a cleaner world for the future. With biodegradable wet wipes, we will achieve this objective."   Sapro, which applies European Union cosmetics production standards in wet wipe manufacturing and ranks among the most preferred manufacturers during the pandemic period due to its attention to detail in research and development and production, will pioneer the widespread adoption of environmentally conscious production standards in Turkey's wet wipe market through biodegradable wet wipe production.
