L'Oréal Group Empowers Women

L'Oréal Group aims to help women reach their potential in all areas of life and create equal opportunities, supporting women socially and economically through development projects implemented worldwide. The importance L'Oréal Group places on gender equality starts with its own workforce. Of the global workforce reaching over 88,000 employees, 69% are women, 58% of Board Members are women, and 64% of all managers company-wide are women. Additionally, as a science-based leader in the beauty technology sector, L'Oréal Group employs over 4,000 scientists, with women making up 64% of this number. L'Oréal Group ranks in the top 5 on Equileap's Gender Equality Index and has achieved inclusion in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index for the fifth consecutive year, crowning its efforts in this area. For L'Oréal Group, beauty "is universal" and has the power to move the world. Born from science and strengthened by its commitment to the concepts of "Diversity, Equality and Inclusion," L'Oréal Group fulfills its leadership mission through ethical principles and takes on an increasingly ambitious role in empowering women. Working resolutely both within its own organization and worldwide to empower women, L'Oréal Group takes concrete steps toward achieving gender equality and empowering women everywhere through corporate sustainability and social responsibility programs as well as awareness projects carried out by its brands.

Gender Equality Emerges as a Top Priority at L'Oréal Turkey

At L'Oréal Turkey General Management, which has over 1,000 employees, women represent 65% of the workforce, 51% of all management levels, and 56% of the Country Management Committee.

L'Oréal Group Carries Out Impactful Projects Worldwide to Empower Women

EUR 50 Million Fund Allocated for Women's Empowerment

L'Oréal Group has allocated a EUR 50 million fund to empower women around the world. This fund aims to support women who are disproportionately affected by the social and economic crisis created by the Covid-19 pandemic through NGOs worldwide. Through its work within L'Oréal for the Future, a global sustainability program addressing major social and environmental challenges facing the world, the Group supported 1 million women and girls globally last year. L'Oréal Group has also supported the Women's Empowerment Principles under the United Nations Global Compact since 2014.

L'Oréal Group Continues Working on Gender Equality in Science with the Mission "The World Needs Science, Science Needs Women"

L'Oréal Group, a leading beauty technology company with science at its core, continues to implement the "For Women in Science" corporate social responsibility and sustainability program, which advocates gender equality in science and supports women's presence in science, worldwide in collaboration with UNESCO. Women scientists lead groundbreaking research globally, but despite their extraordinary discoveries, women still represent only 29% of researchers worldwide and their work is rarely recognized as deserved. Only 35% of students enrolled in STEM-related fields are women. So far, only 3% of Nobel Science Prizes have been awarded to women, and only 11% of senior research positions in Europe are held by women. In Turkey, women hold 37% of all R&D positions, 35% in natural sciences and engineering, and 43% in social sciences and humanities. Believing that women are the driving force of creativity and innovation, L'Oréal Group has helped talented women scientists receive deserved recognition since 1998 through the "For Women in Science" program and inspires young people to pursue careers in science. In Turkey, the "For Women in Science" program, which is in full progress, is entering its 20th year. Through the program conducted by L'Oréal Turkey in collaboration with UNESCO Turkey National Commission, 112 young Turkish women scientists have been awarded for their projects to date. In 2022, each of the 4 women scientists who won awards will receive TRY 120,000 in project support for use in their scientific research.
