Applications Open for "For Women in Science" Program L'Oréal Turkey's "For Women in Science" program, run in collaboration with UNESCO Turkey National Commission to support women researchers in science, reward excellence, and ensure recognition of young and talented women scientists, is running at full steam in its 20th year in Turkey. The program, which aims to draw attention to women's contribution to science and gender equality in science through its established history, and to create role models, will provide four women scientists each with TRY 120,000 in support for their scientific research this year. Organized since 1998 worldwide through collaboration between L'Oréal Group and UNESCO, the "For Women in Science" program aims to support women researchers in science, reward excellence, and ensure recognition of young and talented women scientists. L'Oréal Turkey provides support to 4 promising women scientists with comprehensive and innovative projects. The "For Women in Science" program, now in its 24th year worldwide and 20th year in Turkey, has two categories: "Life and Environmental Sciences" and "Physical Sciences." Young women scientists from Turkey can apply to the "For Women in Science" program, with the application deadline of 15 April 2022. Applications for the program, which aims to support science and women scientists, are evaluated by an independent UNESCO jury. Each of the young and talented Turkish women scientists identified by the jury, whose inspiring work shapes science, receives TRY 120,000 in project support from L'Oréal Turkey to be used in their scientific research.

Program Has Supported and Inspired Women Since 1998

Women scientists lead groundbreaking research globally, yet despite their extraordinary discoveries, women still represent only 29% of researchers worldwide and their work is rarely given the recognition it deserves. Only 35% of students enrolled in STEM-related fields are women. To date, only 3% of Nobel Science Prizes have been awarded to women, and only 11% of senior research positions in Europe are held by women. In Turkey, women account for 37% across all R&D fields, 35% in natural sciences and engineering, and 43% in social sciences and humanities. L'Oréal Group, believing that women are a driving force of creativity and innovation, has been helping talented women scientists receive the recognition they deserve worldwide through the "For Women in Science" program since 1998 and inspiring young people to pursue careers as scientists.

112 Young Turkish Women Scientists Have Been Recognized for Their Projects Under the Program

L'Oréal and UNESCO have been working together for 24 years worldwide and 20 years in Turkey to help more women scientists achieve scientific excellence and equally participate in solving major challenges facing humanity. The "For Women in Science" program supports more than 250 young and talented women scientists each year. Distinguished women researchers from 5 continents continue their scientific careers with the support they receive through the program and make discoveries that will help change the world. To date, 112 young Turkish women scientists have been recognized for their projects under the program.
