Aromatherapeutic Oils and Their Benefits Aromatherapy, with a history of nearly 6000 years, is today a practice based on the healing power of plant oils. The benefits of essential oils derived from aromatic plants for mental, physical and mental health are well-established facts. Most people typically turn to aromatherapy because of its pleasant scent, but aromatherapy offers many benefits that go beyond a pleasant fragrance. Aromatherapy has been used for hundreds of years by many different cultures and civilizations for various purposes. In some cultures for health purposes, in others for creating ambient atmosphere in religious rituals, aromatic oils were used as a mood regulator in Ancient Chinese civilization and featured in mummification processes in Ancient Egypt. Aromatherapy was first used for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes in the oldest Greek civilization. During the Roman Empire period, aromatherapy became an indispensable element of massage rituals applied after bathing. Aromatherapy methods, which are quite popular today, are being enjoyed and used in many areas such as relaxation, personal care and home cleaning. Lavender Oil: A type of oil that relaxes, calms, and helps balance the mind and body. Lavender oil also has an effect that helps facilitate sleep. With its sharp scent, it refreshes the spirit and body. When applied to minor wounds, it heals them. It is the most commonly used oil for pain relief. Ylang Ylang Oil: One of the relaxing oils, Ylang Ylang has muscle-relaxing, circulation-supporting and aphrodisiac properties. Peppermint Oil: It has invigorating, cooling, pain-relieving and mental performance-enhancing properties. When its vapor is inhaled, it is known to help relieve problems such as nasal congestion caused by diseases like flu and colds. Eucalyptus Oil: Eucalyptus oil stands out with its respiratory-supporting properties and has pain-relieving, cooling and circulation-supporting properties. Orange Oil: It is among aromatherapy oils that have motivation-boosting, fatigue-relieving, balancing and calming properties. Its greatest feature is that it eliminates cellulite. You can use a massage oil you create with orange essential oil on cellulite-affected areas of your body. Juniper Oil: An oil that provides relaxation, facilitates sleep and has detoxifying effects. If you experience sleep problems and spend long hours falling asleep, juniper oil may be right for you. Rosemary Oil: It is among the types of aromatherapeutic oils that have mind-opening and circulation-supporting properties. It has mind-stimulating and memory-strengthening effects. With its sharp scent, it helps overcome fatigue. Basil Oil: This oil with a sweet and soft aroma is particularly preferred in the treatment of headaches and migraines. Bergamot Oil: A type of oil preferred for stress-related skin problems. Those who consume bergamot-flavored tea are observed to be in a calmer state of mind. It has a relaxing effect. Black Pepper Oil: It has a sharp and spicy scent. It has the property of stimulating the circulatory system. It relieves muscle pain. It is known that it heals wounds on the skin by accelerating blood circulation. Clove Oil: Clove oil is frequently preferred for spasm-related conditions. It refreshes and calms. Jasmine Oil: It has aphrodisiac properties and provides spiritual calm. Lemon Oil: An oil that will calm you during tense moments. It is also quite ideal for respiratory health. Rose Oil: Among aphrodisiac oils. It is also preferred as a tonic. You can use it in your home with its calm scent. Thyme Oil: A type of aromatic oil obtained by steam distillation of thyme, a plant variety that grows in Mediterranean climate and has a sharp scent. It is known that this oil relieves digestive system problems, benefits eye health and treats respiratory tract disorders. Sandalwood Oil: An oil also used in incense. It takes its place among aphrodisiac oils. Ginger Oil: It is among organic aromatherapy oils that provide energy and relieve muscle pain. Tea Tree Oil: Because of its antibacterial properties, it is used in the treatment of swelling and irritation on the skin. This oil deeply cleanses the oil and dirt accumulated in skin pores and also purifies the skin. Furthermore, it is known that tea tree oil rapidly treats dry and itchy skin and also resolves cold sore problems.   Besides the oils listed above, there are many other aromatherapeutic oils. These oils, whose popularity has been increasing in recent years, are recommended by many experts from psychologists to doctors because of their beneficial effects and are preferred as an aid to treatment.
