Sanofi Addressed the Future of Innovation in Healthcare at Bioexpo 2026
Sanofi shared its global expertise in vaccine development and manufacturing, as well as its experience in using generative artificial intelligence in regulatory processes, with public and sector representatives at Bioexpo 2026, held in İstanbul on October 14-16, 2026. The sessions held during the event covered many topics ranging from next-generation vaccine and immunization technologies to data-driven regulatory processes, while approaches to increase the contribution of scientific innovations to public health were evaluated.

Approaching innovation as a holistic process extending from scientific discoveries to the delivery of new health solutions to people, Sanofi shared its global scientific knowledge and generative artificial intelligence experience with sector stakeholders.

Global Experience and Next-Generation Solutions in Vaccine Innovation
Speaking at the session titled "Innovation in Vaccine Development and Manufacturing: Advantages and Challenges," Dr. Özde Tırna, Sanofi Vaccines Business Unit Eurasia Medical Director, evaluated the contribution of vaccines to public health, the specific requirements of manufacturing processes, and next-generation technologies. She emphasized that vaccination provides significant gains for public health and healthcare systems beyond individual protection.

Noting that Sanofi has developed its more than a century of vaccine experience, extensive manufacturing network, and R&D competence with different technological platforms, Tırna explained the company's approach of selecting the most appropriate platform for each target with examples. She drew attention to the importance of ready-to-use pediatric combination vaccines, mRNA technology, and long-acting monoclonal antibodies developed to protect against RSV.

Tırna stated that innovation in the field of vaccines and immunization is not limited to developing new products; it also offers significant opportunities in terms of ease of application and protection of different age groups.

Noting that smallpox has been eradicated through vaccination, that polio cases have been significantly reduced, and that significant progress has been made in controlling diseases such as measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, mumps, and pertussis, Dr. Özde Tırna made the following assessment:

"Over the past 50 years, vaccination has saved the lives of 154 million people. This means 6 lives per minute. Vaccination is one of the most powerful tools that prevents disease, saves lives, provides savings, and contributes to strong economic growth. The value of vaccines is not limited to individual protection; it is a gain that spreads across entire societies. Therefore, innovation in the field of vaccines and immunization is about offering safer, more accessible, and more easily applicable solutions, in addition to developing new products. Our goal is to protect people of all ages, from infants to adults, from preventable diseases."

Human, Data, and Artificial Intelligence in the Future of Regulatory Approval
Regulatory approval processes, which play a critical role in getting innovation to patients, were addressed in the satellite session titled "Digital Transformation in Regulatory Approval: Designing the Future of Regulation from Application to Decision with Human, Data, and Artificial Intelligence," moderated by Derya Dönmez, Pharm., Sanofi Türkiye Regulatory Affairs Director.

Salih Güreş, General Manager of TC Health, Umut Ağyüz, Digital Project Manager at the Ministry of Health, and Karen Philippe, Sanofi Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Regulatory Affairs Lead, participated in the session.

In the session, which discussed the transition from electronic applications to data-driven evaluation processes, data quality, integration between systems, the areas of use of artificial intelligence, and the sustainability dimension of digitalization were evaluated. Attention was drawn to the importance of cooperation between the sector and regulatory authorities, while it was emphasized that the transformation should be addressed together with the effective use of reliable data, transparency, and human responsibility in decision-making processes.

In the session, where Sanofi's generative artificial intelligence applications in the field of regulatory approval and its experience in this field were also shared, attention was drawn to the fact that patients are at the focus of all studies.

Derya Dönmez, Pharm., Sanofi Türkiye Regulatory Affairs Director, said the following about the digital transformation in regulatory approval processes:

"We are experiencing a transformation in regulatory approval from paper to data, and from data to smart decision support systems. Today, we are discussing how artificial intelligence can be integrated into evaluation and decision-making processes. Our unchanging goal in this journey is for safe, effective, and quality medicines to reach patients as quickly as possible. Technology is valuable to the extent that it serves this purpose. The success of the transformation depends on our ability to bring together quality and standardized data, human expertise, and trust-based cooperation. At Bioexpo, we also addressed the practical implications and future of this transformation together with the experiences of different stakeholders, and evaluated common approaches that will support access to treatments."

Turning the Power of Science into Concrete Benefits through Technology and Cooperation
Sanofi shared its approach of bringing together its global expertise with artificial intelligence, data, and collaborations at Bioexpo 2026, in line with its goal of turning scientific progress into concrete benefits for human health.

At the event, where examples from the fields of vaccine development, manufacturing, and regulatory approval were addressed, the role of technology and cooperation came to the fore in the process extending from scientific innovations passing through research and manufacturing stages to reaching people. Through its assessments regarding the future of innovation in healthcare, Sanofi brought to the agenda approaches aimed at developing next-generation preventive healthcare solutions and supporting access to treatments.
