Novartis Group Tops Turkey's Pharmaceutical Exports Ranking

'In addition to producing Turkey's medicines in Turkey, we also produce the world's medicines in Turkey' with this determination, Novartis/Sandoz Türkiye continues production and exports without interruption and, according to the ranking of Turkey's largest pharmaceutical exporters published annually by İKMİB (Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association), when the total exports of its 3 factories are considered, it again ranked clearly at the top. Dr. Altan Demirdere, Chairman of Novartis Group Turkey and General Manager of Sandoz Türkiye, stated that the factories operating in Turkey continued production at full pace during the pandemic period and also provided production support to Novartis factories in other countries that had to reduce their production capacities due to the outbreak. In addition to the Turkish market, Novartis Group, which has been exporting to more than 100 countries worldwide since the 1990s, ranked clearly at the top in the 2019 ranking published by İKMİB when the total exports of its 3 factories are taken into account. This success was jointly achieved by Novartis's production facility in Kurtköy and Sandoz's 2 production facilities in Gebze. Dr. Altan Demirdere: 'As Novartis Turkey, we export pharmaceuticals of our own production to approximately 100 countries worldwide. If Turkish factory names appear as the place of manufacture on medicines sold today in Europe, Japan and many countries around the world, this is a source of pride for us. Although the Covid-19 outbreak experienced this year caused production capacity reductions in some industrial sectors, as Novartis Group, we first implemented serious measures to guarantee the health of our employees and continued our production without interruption. We even provided production support to Novartis factories in other countries that had to reduce their production capacities due to the outbreak, producing more than in normal times. With our factories whose productivity has increased in the new normal, we will continue to contribute to Turkey's export capacity. Over the next 5 years, we aim to double Novartis Turkey's exports by increasing our investments in production facilities.'
