The Longevity Approach Is Launching a New Era in the Healthy Aging Process

With life expectancy at birth in Türkiye reaching 78.5 years, increasing not only lifespan but also the number of healthy years lived is coming to the forefront of the agenda. The “Longevity” approach, which is being increasingly researched in health and life sciences, evaluates aging biology, cellular health, metabolic balance, mitochondrial functions and lifestyle factors together.

With life expectancy at birth in Türkiye rising to 78.5 years, healthy aging is becoming one of the important agenda items for the health sector and life sciences. The Longevity approach is based on evaluating the aging process not only through chronological age, but through metabolic health, cellular functions, physical capacity and lifestyle factors.

While the classic health approach places significant emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, the longevity perspective focuses on managing risk factors at an early stage and sustaining healthy lifestyle habits over the long term. Nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management and metabolic health are among the core components of this approach.

“Healthy aging involves understanding biological processes”
Noting that the Longevity approach should not be regarded merely as a goal aimed at extending lifespan, TheLifeCo Founder Ersin Pamuksüzer drew attention to the importance of a holistic evaluation in the healthy aging process:

“We need to consider Longevity not merely as living longer, but as preserving health and functionality as much as possible in the later stages of life. To achieve this, we must evaluate together the biological mechanisms underlying the aging process and the lifestyle factors that affect these mechanisms. Core elements such as nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management lie at the center of the healthy aging approach.”

Noting that the programs implemented at TheLifeCo have also been developed within the framework of this holistic approach, Pamuksüzer said the following:

“We have been working on various nutrition, detox and lifestyle programs for more than 20 years. Our aim in the programs we carry out with expert teams is to support individuals in evaluating their lifestyle habits and developing sustainable changes. Today's developments in the field of longevity show that health should not be addressed only when a disease emerges; it is a dynamic process that must be protected throughout life.”

Cellular health and autophagy at the focus of research
One of the important topics of scientific studies in the field of longevity is cellular aging and cellular quality control mechanisms. Autophagy, one of the processes researched in this context, is defined as a natural biological mechanism that allows cells to break down and re-evaluate their non-functional or damaged components.

Autophagy is a complex process that can be affected by metabolic conditions such as energy balance, nutrient intake and fasting. The effects of fasting and calorie restriction on autophagy continue to be examined, particularly in aging biology and metabolic health research.

However, it is emphasized that mechanisms observed at the cellular level do not directly translate to extended lifespan in humans or imply the clinical benefit of a particular wellness application. For this reason, the level of scientific evidence and the long-term effects of applications in the field of longevity are evaluated separately.

Mitochondria are one of the important components of metabolic health
Another prominent topic in longevity research is mitochondrial function. The functions of mitochondria, the basic organelles responsible for cellular energy production, are closely related to energy metabolism, physical performance and cellular stress mechanisms.

Regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep and stress management stand out as fundamental lifestyle components in preserving overall metabolic health.

In addition, new-generation wellness applications such as red light therapy, infrared sauna and cold exposure are also being researched in association with topics of cellular health and recovery. However, the levels of scientific evidence regarding the long-term effects of these applications on longevity vary from one another.

NAD+ and biohacking applications under research
NAD+ metabolism and biohacking applications have also drawn attention in the longevity ecosystem in recent years. NAD+, which plays a role in cellular energy metabolism, is one of the molecules researched within the scope of aging biology.

The changes in NAD+ levels with age and approaches aimed at supporting NAD+ metabolism continue to be subjects of academic research. However, the scope of clinical evidence demonstrating that NAD+ supplements or applications directly improve long-term longevity outcomes in healthy individuals is still developing.

For this reason, scientific evidence, safety, personalization and expert evaluation are gaining importance in new-generation longevity applications.

Preventive health comes to the forefront in the longevity approach
At the core of the Longevity approach is the evaluation of health not only through the treatment of diseases, but through the preservation of long-term biological and functional capacity.

From this perspective, basic elements such as regular health checks, balanced nutrition, physical activity, quality sleep and stress management are being evaluated together with more advanced approaches examined in cellular and metabolic health research.

Stating that developments in the field of longevity will also strengthen the personalized health approach, Pamuksüzer said the following:

“We believe that the health approach will become more personalized in the coming period. When an individual's metabolic characteristics, lifestyle, physical capacity and needs are evaluated together, much more sustainable health plans can be created. However, it is of great importance to act based on scientific data and to correctly evaluate the evidence level of new technologies or applications.”

TheLifeCo is growing its holistic wellbeing approach on a global scale
Founded in 2005 by Ersin Pamuksüzer, TheLifeCo offers holistic wellbeing programs that include yoga, meditation and various wellness applications in addition to detox and healthy nutrition programs.

Serving through its wellness centers as well as its online platforms and mobile applications, the brand aims to develop solutions for integrating healthy living habits into daily life.

Within the scope of the Longevity approach, TheLifeCo aims to create a wellbeing ecosystem that brings together nutrition, lifestyle, physical and mental wellbeing, and new-generation wellness applications.
