World Heart Surgeons Meet in Turkey

Expert cardiac surgeons from around the world are gathering in Ankara to assess the outcomes of cardiac operations thanks to robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Cardiac surgeons from Ukraine, Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and France will participate in the "Robotic/Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Summit" to be held at the Ankara JW Marriott Hotel on 28 September. Saudi Arabia's King Selman bin Abdulaziz is also sending Makhdom Fahd Abdulrahman, the country's leading cardiac surgeon, to Turkey. A total of 250 cardiac and vascular surgeons from 10 countries will attend the summit.

Prof. Dr. Serkan Durdu, Chairman of the Minimally Invasive Working Group of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, said that robotic systems enhance the surgeon's precision, making cardiac operations safer.

Robot-Assisted Surgery Transforms Lives

Prof. Dr. Serkan Durdu noted that advances in robot-assisted surgery have changed patients' lives, stating that particularly in cardiac conditions, these techniques enable less invasive surgical approaches, shortening recovery time and increasing success rates. Prof. Dr. Durdu also emphasized that developments in this field worldwide have strengthened Turkey's position in medical technologies.

Durdu highlighted that these systems are used particularly in complex cardiac procedures such as mitral valve repair and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), providing significant advantages, saying "Thanks to these innovations, patients recover in shorter periods and complication risks are minimized."

A Better Future With New Technologies

Durdu further noted that artificial intelligence and advanced tactile feedback systems will enable surgeons to perform even more precise operations, stating "With these technologies in the future, we will achieve much greater success in cardiac surgery."
