AstraZeneca ranks first in climate change efforts among leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, according to a report prepared by STAT, a leading global environmental services company, analyzing climate action initiatives undertaken by major companies in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. According to the "Climate Rankings: How Are the Best Pharmaceutical Companies Performing in Fighting Climate Change?" report published by STAT Analysis Corporation (STAT), a leading environmental services company providing environmental and microbiology laboratory services, AstraZeneca ranks first due to its efforts in this field. In the report, AstraZeneca is presented as an exceptional company within the pharmaceutical sector, which is a sector that could do much more to measure and report the impacts of climate change. This result also demonstrates AstraZeneca's commitment to accelerating decarbonization across the industry through its bold climate action initiatives and collaborations on climate change. Under its Net Zero Commitment, AstraZeneca is making steady progress toward its targets: reducing emissions from its own operations by 98% by 2026 (Scopes 1-2), cutting absolute emissions from its ecosystem (Scopes 1-3) in half by 2030, and achieving science-based net zero by 2045 at the latest. This special report is significant as it is the first comprehensive guide that ranks biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies based on their greenhouse gas emission measurement and reduction efforts and provides information on how they are addressing climate change.
