Abdi İbrahim's "Doz" Social Innovation Program in Healthcare

Abdi İbrahim Healthcare Social Innovation Program "Doz" Operating in the pharmaceutical sector for 110 years with the mission of improving life and the future, Abdi İbrahim has expanded the scope and content of its healthcare social innovation program and created a brand-new program identity. Abdi İbrahim's Healthcare Social Innovation Program "Doz" will support social entrepreneurs in the healthcare field in its new phase. Abdi İbrahim, the uninterrupted leader of the Turkish pharmaceutical sector for 20 years, continues to take forward-shaping steps through the impact power that its established and innovative structure brings. Within this framework, Abdi İbrahim has restructured its social innovation programs and launched the "Doz" program. With "Doz" gaining a broader scope and content, Abdi İbrahim will support strengthening and increasing social benefit-focused ideas in the fields of healthcare and sustainability, aiming for greater integration into the start-up ecosystem and leveraging more of the opportunities offered by Industry 4.0. Implemented in collaboration with ImpactHub Istanbul and Mikado Consulting, key organizations in the entrepreneurship ecosystem, the project focuses on public health and awareness-raising, research and development in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, inclusion of disadvantaged regions and groups, and sustainability solutions added to the program this year as core topics of Doz.  

Early-stage incubation program

Abdi İbrahim's Healthcare Social Innovation Program Doz will support enterprises developing innovative solutions for the healthcare sector in two categories: early-stage and advanced-stage. Early-stage social entrepreneurs may submit applications starting 26 September 2022. Applications will be accepted until 27 October through https://www.abdiibrahim.com.tr/doz. After evaluating the incoming applications, the process will move to the semi-finalist preparation stage as the second phase. Social entrepreneurs in the early-stage category selected through jury evaluation will then receive customized trainings in the incubation program. Entrepreneurs will also participate in trainings on business model development, social impact management, presentation techniques, marketing, digital communication and social media management, while receiving mentoring support from Abdi İbrahim employees. At the end of the program, the selected early-stage enterprise will receive a seed support award of TRY 70,000. All enterprises reaching the final will also be included in the Alumni Community to be established in future years. The program will run for 4 months.

A "Doz" for sustainability solutions

Operating under its HEAL2030 sustainability strategy and integrating sustainability into its business processes, Abdi İbrahim is preparing with "Doz" to support social entrepreneurs offering sustainability solutions addressing the healthcare sector. Enterprises in the sustainability field that provide solutions across the lifecycle in healthcare and pharmaceuticals—from production to marketing, from supply chain to end user—may also apply to the program in the early-stage category.  

Advanced-stage impact investment program

Within the scope of the Doz program in the advanced-stage category, Abdi İbrahim this year prioritized impact investment and introduced a new implementation. Accordingly, activities encompassing Challenge Framing, Challenge-based Scouting and business development processes will be implemented for the first time in the healthcare sector through Doz. During the program process, Abdi İbrahim's investment priorities and strategic innovation needs will first be identified through an internal workshop. Following the identified areas and needs, enterprises working on them will be researched and applications accepted. After evaluation, business development and potential investment facilitation will be conducted with entrepreneurs.  

Dr. Oğuzcan Bülbül, Director of Corporate Relations, Sustainability and Communications at Abdi İbrahim, noted that they have expanded the reach of the program conducted last year and enriched it with new content, transforming it into a new structure under the name "Doz," and continued as follows:

"As Abdi İbrahim, we conduct our social activities within our corporate investment program, which is one of the most important components of our sustainability strategy. On our path to improving life, we undertake various initiatives with consideration for community needs. We will continue with our program, which we launched in 2021, this year under the name 'Abdi İbrahim Healthcare Social Innovation Program: Doz,' from where we left off. We are very excited about the new phase of our program. Through "Doz," we will have the opportunity to meet and support entrepreneurs who have developed or are developing sustainability solutions in the healthcare field. In "Doz," as in last year, we will offer support this year in two categories for entrepreneurs: early-stage and advanced-stage. We eagerly await applications from all social entrepreneurs working with impact focus and opening new horizons for us in the healthcare sector. Additionally this year, we have included sustainability solutions among our focus areas. As Abdi İbrahim, we are open to all improvements we can make throughout our entire processes—from production to marketing, from logistics to the end consumer—that will enable us to contribute more to green transition."
