The assessment of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of publicly traded companies by LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group), an international financial analysis and reporting organization, has been announced.
Ülker, which has continued sustainability efforts for years with a waste-free company culture, achieved the highest score among 484 companies evaluated in its category as of January 2025*, following January 2024, and was ranked first globally for the second time. Ülker also maintained its leadership position among companies from all sectors on Borsa Istanbul.
In the LSEG assessment, companies are evaluated based on more than 100 performance criteria under headings such as energy, water, emissions, waste management, human rights, workforce, corporate social responsibility, supply chain, and responsible production.
"Our ESG achievement was confirmed once again on the international platform"
Mete Buyurgan, CEO of Ülker, stated that they hold a leading position at national and international platforms with their sustainability performance in environmental, social and governance areas. Buyurgan continued: "At Ülker, we focused on strengthening our governance structure and increasing our resilience to sustainability risks to achieve our goal of building a resilient global food system. We placed sustainability at the center of all our efforts in the environmental, social and governance areas, believing that it will transform us. In doing so, through our internal practices and projects that set an example for the sector and society, we have achieved both environmental sustainability and public benefit. We are pleased that our sensitivity to meeting the criteria under the ESG framework has been confirmed once again on international platforms through LSEG's performance assessment.
Being ranked first again among all companies on Borsa Istanbul regardless of sector distinction was an additional source of satisfaction for us. In 2024, our issuance of a sustainability-linked international bond worth USD 550 million with a 7-year maturity demonstrated the confidence of international investors in us and motivated us. Going forward, while maintaining strong financial performance, with our agile management approach, we will continue to constantly develop our production, supply and logistics infrastructure, and increase our investments in R&D, innovation and digitalization to advance sustainability for a livable world."
