OYAK Makes Strategic Agricultural Investment
Ferbis Tarım, acquired by HEKTAŞ, a company within the OYAK Group, in 2017, has completed an investment that will strengthen its position in the crop protection market.
OYAK announced that the investment made to Ferbis' production facility in Bor, Niğde will increase annual production capacity to 39,000 tonnes. The new installation constructed at the factory will be used for a new herbicide production line and storage purposes.
Ferbis, which continues production on a 24,000-square-metre site in Bor, benefits from its proximity to the Çukurova and GAP regions. Expanding its product solutions and distribution channels, Ferbis has grown rapidly in the market, increasing its market share from 0.05% to 8% after joining HEKTAŞ.
The company, which has one of Turkey's most qualified production facilities in the agricultural chemical market, has increased its annual production capacity to 18,500 tonnes over six years by expanding capacity sixfold, thanks to its rapid and quality growth performance.
Ferbis, accelerating facility investments alongside its brand transformation, aims to increase its production capacity to 39,000 tonnes in the third quarter of 2023, a twelvefold increase over six years.
Through three regional management offices, Ferbis delivers its products and services to every agricultural production location in Turkey, increasing its sales points from 10 at the time of acquisition to 500 today, comprising 470 retail outlets, 14 specialised institutions, 14 wholesalers and 2 distributors.
Ferbis, which supplies producers with efficiency-focused affordable crop protection solutions, will utilise export opportunities in nearby regions such as Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Georgia, alongside the domestic market, leveraging its increased production capacity and expanding product portfolio.
Ferbis, continuously expanding its product portfolio through research and development work, effectively provides solutions to the market's changing expectations and needs, particularly those arising from climate conditions' impact, while also providing technical support to producers in the field through its team of specialist agricultural engineers.
In addition to crop protection and plant growth regulator products, Ferbis plans to diversify its product range in the coming period, particularly by adding products related to mineral oils, as well as introducing new formulations to herbicide and insecticide products.
'We aim to sign many projects with HEKTAŞ that will open the door to Agriculture 5.0 in the coming period'
OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem, whose views were included in the statement, said that OYAK continues investments domestically and abroad with the vision it has demonstrated in recent years and its sustainable growth strategy. Erdem noted that they analyse the needs of Turkey and the sectors in which they operate, making investments in the right areas for value-added production, and that the latest example of this is the Ferbis investment. Stating that HEKTAŞ, which has 67 years of experience in Turkey's agricultural sector, leads the sector with its innovative vision, Erdem said: 'Seven years ago, we set HEKTAŞ' slogan as "pioneer of smart agriculture". We aimed to support our producers with smart projects that make a difference in every field of agriculture and to be by their side in every area they need. HEKTAŞ, a source of pride for Turkish agriculture, and Ferbis, the innovative face of productive farming, will support producers through this investment, strengthen market power in crop protection, and continue to create employment for the region. We aim to sign many projects with HEKTAŞ that will open the door to Agriculture 5.0 in the coming period,' he said. SourceAdvertisement
