Cargill Gıda Continues to Grow Through Product Diversity and Exports

Cargill Food Middle East, Turkey and Africa region has also taken over the leadership of the company's India-based food ingredients business unit. Cargill, a global leader in food, bio-industrial and animal nutrition sectors, is celebrating 60 years of investment and growth in Turkey. Cargill Turkey has become an important production hub that has provided added value to domestic and international customers over these 60 years. Turkey's role within the international company Cargill has strengthened. Istanbul has become the strategic centre of Cargill's operations in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region, which encompasses 66 countries. Most recently, the management of the company's India-based food operations will also be conducted from Istanbul. With India's inclusion in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region, Cargill will be able to make greater use of the strength of its Turkey-based operations. Cargill began its operations in Turkey in 1960 through a local partnership, entering the food sector. Over 60 years, it has invested more than USD 530 million in Turkey, expanding its domestic product portfolio with various food ingredients, bio-industrial materials and animal nutrition products. Today it offers innovative solutions for packaging, pharmaceuticals, bioenergy, textiles, paints and more. As a large portion of these products are manufactured in Turkey's factories, local production is replacing imported products. At the same time, it contributes to the country's economy and creates export opportunities to markets around the world. "We have worked resolutely for 60 years in Turkey, focusing on product diversification. We have developed innovative food products in line with consumer trends and plant-based, sustainable product alternatives that touch every area of life," said Tarakçıoğlu, continuing: "Looking ahead to the next 60 years, we will continue to maintain these priorities. We will continue to develop high-value products such as plant-based proteins and bio-industrial and pharmaceutical-grade raw materials." While innovation continues to form the core vision of Cargill's operations in Turkey, it is also reflected in sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Under the 1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity Programme, it provides Turkish farmers with training on sustainable farming methods, access to digital farming tools and farm-specific consulting services. The Future 60 Leaders Programme, launched with the goal of developing female leaders of the future during this period when Cargill Turkey celebrates its 60th year, provides scholarships as well as personal and professional development support to 60 university students. Cargill's current operations in Turkey include four production facilities with the latest technology:

• At the corn processing facility in Orhangazi, food starch, corn fibre, sweeteners and industrial starch are produced from 100 percent natural and domestic corn.
• At the Turyağ facility in Balıkesir, healthier edible vegetable oils free of trans fats and cholesterol, with reduced saturated fat content, are produced.
• At the bio-industrial production facility in Dilovası, advanced plant-based materials such as transformer oils, drilling oils and industrial esters are produced.
• At the animal feed production facility in Hendek, Sakarya, high-quality animal feeds and premixes are produced.

Cargill Turkey exports products manufactured in these facilities to customers it serves in more than 70 countries.
