Cleaning at the International Space Station Meet Mark Sivik, a 30-year P&G employee and Senior Director of Fabric and Home Care Research. Over the years, Sivik has been instrumental in the discovery of breakthrough innovations in home and fabric care, including cleaning polymer technology for Dawn—which helps keep spilled oil and contaminants away from wildlife—and Tide Infinity, a detergent used in space for extended and deep space missions. Sivik spoke live at CES 2023 with astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), discussing unique cleaning needs and how insights gained from developing detergents for long-duration and deep space missions can inform conservation efforts on Earth. [caption id="attachment_159347" align="aligncenter"] Mark Sivik[/caption] Over the past two years working on Tide Infinity, Sivik found that the detergent's formula held up well on the ISS, and Tide To-Go Wipes and Tide To-Go Pens effectively removed sriracha, coffee, olive oil and punch stains in space. Last summer, Sivik was at NASA's 3D-printed Mars habitat in Houston, Texas, and continued to refine the formula of Tide Infinity for deep space missions. "Working at Procter & Gamble gave me this opportunity," Sivik said, adding "Most of the innovations I've worked on and the people working with me in all our functions were able to improve the lives of people around the world every day."
