Sofidel Makes $185 Million Investment

Sofidel Invests USD 185 Million With a new Valmet paper machine, the facility will reach annual production capacity of over 200,000 metric tonnes (+50%), making it Sofidel's most important production facility worldwide. Sofidel, the tissue paper group known for brands Regina, Nicky and other customer brands, is further strengthening its production capacity with a USD 185 million investment at its integrated facility in Circleville, Ohio, to meet rising demand in the United States. The project includes the construction of a new building housing a new Valmet DCT 200 paper machine with annual production capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes, which will commence operations in the third quarter of 2025. The Circleville facility, which currently hosts two Valmet Advantage NTT paper machines, will reach annual production capacity of over 200,000 metric tonnes (+50%) and become Sofidel's most important production facility on a global scale. "Last year we celebrated our first 10 years in the US market: 10 years of development and growth. Thanks to our tightly-knit and talented US team and our excellent relationships with institutions and local communities from the state of Ohio who have always supported us, with this investment in our Circleville plant we are launching our second decade of operations in the United States. Today Sofidel America has production facilities in six states, and this operation will allow us to better meet the growing demand from our customers and continue our growth in this country," the company stated. The Ohio facility was Sofidel's first greenfield investment in the United States. To date, it is Sofidel's most modern and sustainable facility. Located on 280 acres (110 hectares) of land, the facility is situated in a region rich in water, gas and electricity supply, and is strategically positioned near intermodal transportation systems and major urban centres and distribution operators within several hundred miles.
