Sapro supports biodiversity

Sapro's 'Newipe® Next-Generation Viscose Fabric', developed with a EUR 30 million investment, has been certified for compostability with 'TÜV OK Compost Home' and 'TÜV OK Compost Industrial' certifications. Sapro continues its operations in accordance with principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility. In 2022, Sapro put into production the 'Newipe® Next-Generation Viscose Fabric' with a EUR 30 million investment. The company had the product's compostability certified with 'TÜV OK Compost Home' and 'TÜV OK Compost Industrial' certifications. Sapro General Manager Murat Gönül provided comments on the development. Contains 100% renewable plant fibres Emphasizing the importance of the natural life cycle, Sapro General Manager Murat Gönül stated, "Newipe® is a product that is friendly to the environment and the future with its natural structure that dissolves quickly in nature and contains no plastic. Our product, developed with environmental sustainability awareness, contains 100% renewable plant fibres. When recycled, it will not harm the environment, can break down into non-toxic components, and can easily transform into organic matter when dispersed. The most critical point on this matter is that the product has composting properties. Compostable products provide nutrients and organic matter to soil as they decompose. This makes soil more fertile and promotes plant growth. Healthier soil allows for the development of more plant species, which increases biodiversity. Compostable products help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by absorbing carbon dioxide as they decompose. Lower greenhouse gas levels reduce the effects of climate change and help preserve biodiversity. When compared to other viscose fabrics, Newipe® is produced with reduced carbon emissions because some of its components are introduced into the production process without any pre-treatment, decomposes more rapidly and completely in nature biologically, and can be composted." The product's sustainability and environmental-friendliness have been certified Gönül shared that Newipe®'s compostable property was certified with 'TÜV OK Compost Home' and 'TÜV OK Compost Industrial' certificates as a result of conducted tests, stating, "The TÜV OK Compost certification is a document demonstrating that our Newipe Next-Generation Viscose Fabric is sustainable and environmentally friendly. This certification proves that our fabric meets specific test criteria and is fully biodegradable and compostable under both industrial and home composting conditions, while also confirming that the product transforms into organic matter without causing harm to the environment. With our product, we help reduce waste while protecting the environment. In this way, we contribute to more sustainable use of natural resources and the preservation of biodiversity." Gönül also emphasized that the TÜV OK Compost certification proves that Newipe Next-Generation Viscose Fabric complies with these regulations, stating, "The transition to plastic-free tissues will help meet future legal requirements and strengthen the market position of the brands for which we carry out private label production."
