Supershield Admixplus Successfully Applied

Supershield Admixplus liquid crystalline-based waterproofing product has been successfully applied in foundation and shear wall concrete placement at the Doyap construction site - İzmir Katip Çelebi University Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with Çimbeton. Our regional solution partner Çimbeton's technical team and 4 concrete pumps completed the placement of 5,000 m³ of foundation concrete flawlessly and without interruption in approximately 22 hours. We take pride in jointly signing this important project with Çimbeton, where continuous on-site team supervision was provided to ensure concrete workability and to avoid unwanted cold joints. In this project where the groundwater level is approximately 2 meters and hydrostatic water pressure is consequently very high, the most suitable mix design for 5,000 m³ of crystalline concrete produced with Supershield Admixplus was prepared in Çimbeton's R&D laboratories through joint work between Çimbeton and Supershield technical departments. Thanks to the liquid form of Admixplus, it was added to the concrete during production at the concrete plant using an automatic dosing system to ensure homogeneous penetration throughout the entire concrete. This prevented extra time and labor loss at the plant and job site, resulting in faster and error-free workflow. Since no adverse effects were observed in the fresh and hardened properties of Admixplus-applied concrete and no unusual consistency difference occurred in fresh concrete, no difference from standard concrete was observed during transport of the crystalline concrete to the job site.

With the placement of crystalline concrete delivered to the job site, waterproofing of the foundation concrete was completed and the concrete's resistance to hydrostatic pressure was ensured at the highest level.

Due to its special chemical formulation, Admixplus remains active throughout the concrete's service life. Through its crack-bridging capability up to 0.4 mm, it prevents water from reaching the reinforcement while also increasing concrete durability. The only requirement following crystalline concrete placement is proper concrete curing. Following the foundation concrete, shear wall concrete was also cast as crystalline concrete with Admixplus, and to complete the waterproofing flawlessly, in the second stage, cold joint treatments with sodium bentonite and rubber-based expanding tape applications and necessary thio-rot hole repairs were performed with great care by our specialist applicator partner 4gen teknik. The high number of variables that could negatively affect proper execution of waterproofing work is easily overcome through correct products, R&D efforts and strong partnerships.
