"We are responding to people's pursuit of comfort"
Saint-Gobain Turkey Architectural Solutions Manager Kubilay Büyüklü, stating that they are producing lightweight construction solutions by addressing the decarbonization of light construction and construction industry and striving to respond to people's pursuit of comfort in daily life, continued his remarks as follows: "To be able to build the cities of the future, we need to think about how to design the buildings of the future. People spend a large part of their lifetime inside buildings and the environment we live in needs to be based on infrastructure that will serve human comfort. We are aware that the key to achieving safe and sustainable living is to take action from today. We are supporting our building construction techniques structurally with innovative and sustainable materials. An important step was taken with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that came into force in 1992. With the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015 and subsequently the European Green Deal published in 2019, these steps taken to prevent climate change have become binding targets and action packages for countries and organizations. By 2030, overcoming climate change is one of the important items among our targets that need to be addressed. As the Saint-Gobain group, serving this purpose, we have set targets to reduce our industrial water consumption by 50 percent and carbon emissions by 33 percent by 2030, use 100 percent recyclable packaging and conduct 100 percent life cycle analysis for all product groups. We have committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050." Büyüklü concluded his remarks by stating that resilient and sustainable structures are aligned with Saint-Gobain's targets.Advertisement
