Primary Polyethylene Dispersions

The development of a new production process for primary polyethylene dispersions exemplifies the innovations the company has achieved. Thanks to the newly developed technology, the production process delivers improvements such as lower energy and water consumption, as well as enhancements including higher and more uniform molecular weight distribution, reduced surfactant concentration, and less colour degradation. Novaspers PE04&PE06 products demonstrate significantly superior performance compared to conventional polyethylene waxes used in applications such as pigment orientation in masterbatches and aluminium die-casting. The image above shows the residue and colour change that resulted from exposing Novaspers PE04 product to competing products and OXPE Wax Emulsion at 120 degrees for 2 hours and at 600 degrees for 1 minute. Novaspers PE04 product was observed not to melt at 120 degrees and remained stable. At 600 degrees, unlike other products, it left no residue. These new products have established themselves in the paints and coatings industry due to their unique properties and have proven to offer better durability compared to classical wax emulsions. High Solids Ethylene Copolymer Dispersions

Common aqueous dispersions of ethylene copolymers such as EAA and EMA generally have technical limitations including low solids content but high co-monomer content and low molecular weight. New generation products are manufactured with much higher solids content and molecular weight while containing less co-monomer. As a result, improved properties such as better durability and more successful adhesion to non-polar surfaces are enabled. The Novaseal product range offers products containing up to 45% active matter but free of surfactants, auxiliary solvents and plasticisers.
