PPG makes major investment in powder coating production facility

PPG Invests in Powder Coatings Production Facility PPG announced a USD 44 million investment to upgrade five powder coatings production facilities in the United States and Latin America.

The projects are part of PPG's strategic objectives to expand its powder coatings offerings and increase global production to meet growing customer demand for sustainable advantaged products.

In aggregate, the investment—USD 30 million for U.S. factories and USD 14 million for facilities in Latin America—is expected to increase overall capacity, boost production capacity for bonded metallic powders, improve processing times through automated packaging, and develop small and medium-scale production capabilities. Improvements and expansions at powder production facilities in Brazil, Ind., Gainesville, Texas; Greensboro, NC; San Juan del Rio, Mexico; and Sumaré, Brazil have already been completed or are underway. PPG targets completion of the projects by the fourth quarter of 2023. Since 2019, PPG has focused on increasing powder coatings capacity and capabilities, completing four strategic acquisitions and expanding manufacturing and service capabilities at seven facilities worldwide.
