Polisan Holding released its 2022 Sustainability Report. Having achieved significant progress in combating climate change and sustainability performance in 2022, Polisan Holding included in its report all environmental impacts created across its sustainability strategies, ranging from product design focused on lifecycle through operational efficiency to renewable energy sources in energy supply, and also addressed targets for reducing Scope III emissions. Polisan Holding A.Ş., one of Turkey's established and pioneering group companies with investments in chemicals, paints and coatings, and port operations, announced steps it will take to combat climate change and create a more livable world. In its 2022 Sustainability Report prepared under the motto 'Together We Can Succeed', attention was drawn to Polisan Holding's work as a signatory to the UN Global Compact, conducting activities with all stakeholders in its value chain on human rights, labor standards, climate crisis, business ethics and combating corruption. The report also included the World Economic Forum Stakeholder Capitalism Indicators in the scope of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) work this year. With reference to Turkey's 2053 net-zero emissions target and the statements of intent shared at COP27 for 2030, efforts to comply with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and related green transition regulations were also emphasized. The report stated that Polisan Holding's emission intensity has been reduced by 46% since 2012.

Emission rates declining rapidly

According to the report, the emission intensity of Polisan Kimya and Polisan Kansai Boya companies operating under the Polisan Holding umbrella was reduced by 38.4% compared to 2019. As part of sustainability efforts, the company implemented various projects including electricity procurement from renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, green building certified facilities, and eco-labeled products. The company also achieved a B+ rating in the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Climate Change Program, demonstrating performance above the global average. Polisan Holding's Sustainability Report included the following statements in summary: "Through Kaizen activities conducted over the past three years, our company achieved 2.7 million kWh energy savings. This prevented approximately 1,238 tCO2e emissions. In 2022, 60% of electricity consumption (16,674,985 kWh) was met from renewable energy sources. As a result of all these efforts, we raised our Climate Change performance rating to B+ level, which is the European average. We have maintained our position in the Borsa İstanbul Sustainability Index for six consecutive years. Our work in gender equality is very important to us. The number of female employees reached 125, and the number of female managers reached 36. In 2022, the ratio of female employees increased from 12.2% to 13.5% compared to the previous year, and the ratio of female managers increased from 20% to 23.8%."
"We continue our efforts to combat climate change"
Cantekin Dinçerler, Executive Board Member of Polisan Holding, made the following comments in his assessment of Polisan Holding's 2022 GRI Sustainability Report: "As Polisan Holding, we have been presenting our sustainability approach through the reports we have published since 2015. Unless the world begins to cooperate more effectively on climate change mitigation and adaptation, it is clear that continuous global warming and ecological degradation will continue over the next 10 years. It is crucial that we take measures against global risks that pose serious threats to our shared future, develop strategies that will increase our resilience, and manage our risks and opportunities." Noting that the sustainability performance of Poliport and Polisan Kansai Boya companies was recognized by global ratings platform EcoVadis with the Silver Recognition Level Award, Cantekin Dinçerler added: "In evaluations conducted by Refinitiv on behalf of Borsa İstanbul based on international sustainability criteria, our company demonstrated ESG performance above the threshold in the chemicals sector during the reporting period and successfully maintained its position in the Borsa İstanbul Sustainability Index this year. We raised our CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Climate Change Program rating, which we have been reporting on since 2017, from B- globally to B+ in 2022. We demonstrated performance equivalent to a B score across Europe and above B- globally."
Report prepared in accordance with GRI standards
Prepared in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, Polisan Holding's 2022 GRI Sustainability Report covers the period between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. The report also includes contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
