Small Changes You Can Make in Your Kitchen
Those seeking to update their kitchens to 2018-2019 trends received recommendations from Figen Erdağ Demircan, an architect with f2ms Grup based in Bursa. Demircan stated: "Color contrasts, metallic and industrial looks, and concrete are among this year's trends. Bold-colored kitchen doors that emerged in 2017 continue to be seen this year as well."
Architect Figen Erdağ Demircan offered 10 ideas for those wishing to renovate their kitchens:
In 2018, kitchens increasingly resemble living rooms, with combinations of wood and gray tones and mink color, open shelving featuring books, plants, picture frames, seating areas, island surroundings and fixed seating arrangements adding variety.
Do not shy away from using dark colors; with different and strong countertop lighting solutions, you can work in your preferred light. Color alternatives take precedence in built-in appliances; you can choose from bronze, dark blue, anthracite, and cream colors to suit your style. Bronze and copper will appear frequently this year.
You can change your fixtures and handle covers to these tones, or even opt for antique-looking versions. Combining natural colors with gold is on the rise this year. If you like this color, you can select your kitchen lighting at least in this tone. Kitchen islands are now indispensable.
Moreover, if your kitchen is large, you can now have two islands—one as a work area and one as a banquette seating area.
Open shelving is on the rise. You can use plenty of open shelf systems to display your accessories, place plants, and create a more airy, open kitchen feel. If space permits, you can opt for a horizontally-oriented cabinet system rather than vertical cabinets.
