IZELCRYL AQ 12 B 50 (Water-Based Acrylic Resin)

Since 2015, İzel Kimya A.Ş. has expanded beyond our core business of alkyd resin production to include the manufacture of thermosetting acrylic resins with OH functionality. As a team at İzel Kimya A.Ş., we continuously develop our products in line with changing conditions and advancing technology, working toward our goal of maintaining consistent quality. Our production is subject to continuous quality control by our quality department at every stage, from raw material acceptance through finished product shipment. IZELCRYL AQ 12 B 50 resin, manufactured in compliance with national and international standards, is a hydroxyl-functional resin that can be thinned with water. It is an eco-friendly product with low VOC content. The resin demonstrates excellent gloss and color fastness, outstanding resistance to environmental conditions, high chemical and stain resistance, and good adhesion and hardness. Acrylic resins are obtained through the polymerization of acrylic monomers using specific catalysts and initiators. Monomers used in acrylic resin production include nonfunctional monomers such as methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, butyl acrylate and styrene, as well as OH-functional monomers such as 2-EHA, HPA, HPMA and 2-HEA. Acrylic resins produced with nonfunctional monomers are classified as "thermoplastic," while those produced with functional monomers are termed "thermoset" acrylic resins. The most important factors affecting product quality in acrylic resin production are monomer ratios, dosing time, dosing rate, catalyst type, quantity and temperature. IZELCRYL AQ 12 B 50 is a thermosetting acrylic resin that can be thinned with both water and solvent. Used in conjunction with melamine and urea resins, it is particularly employed in low-temperature oven applications. IZELCRYL AQ 12 B 50 is a two-component acrylic resin used in topcoat varnishes and paints in the industrial and automotive sectors. It is also used in metal primers and topcoat finishes, water-based varnishes, primers and putties, wood and decorative paints. The resin's solvent is n-butanol, and it is marketed as a 50% resin solution. IZELCRYL AQ 12 B 50 resin exhibits excellent compatibility with other single-component acrylic emulsions and with Izelcryl 65 XC 58 and Izelcryl 67 XC 57 resins also produced by İzel Kimya. They can also be used as hybrids according to the expectations and requirements of the end user. Izelcryl AQ 12 B 50 is mixed with amino resins (hexamethoxymethyl melamine resin) in weight ratios of 70:30 or 80:20 for use in oven applications (approximately 120°C). An acid catalyst (20% aqueous PTSA solution) can be used at 5–10% by weight to accelerate curing. Epoxy resins (Eq.wt. 500) can be used at 1–7.5% by weight to increase hardness.
