İZAYDAŞ Incineration Plant Completes Maintenance Process
The İZAYDAŞ Incineration Facility, which undergoes regular maintenance and partial renovations each year, has successfully completed its most comprehensive maintenance process since its establishment. The major maintenance work, which lasted 45 days, cost approximately TRY 5 million. General Manager Saraç took the operator's seat and commissioned the incineration facility with the first waste feeding operation following the maintenance.
FACILITY MODERNIZATION WORK
İZAYDAŞ, a subsidiary of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, continues to diligently pursue technical infrastructure work that will carry the facility confidently into the future, alongside its operations that consider environmental and public health.MAJOR MAINTENANCE COMPLETED IN 45 DAYS
The major maintenance work at the İZAYDAŞ incineration facility, which began on 20 September, was completed on 5 October. The most significant portion of the major maintenance work consisted of refractory brick replacement in the rotary kiln and secondary combustion chamber. The steam turbine underwent 25,000-hour maintenance, high and medium voltage electrical installation inspection and maintenance were performed, and mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance of waste feeding, waste incineration, flue gas and waste water treatment unit equipment was carried out. The insulation in the secondary combustion chamber and boiler area was removed, scraped and painted, with all insulation renewed.NUMEROUS MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS PERFORMED
The facility's rotating equipment such as motors, compressors, pumps and fans, as well as cranes and conveyor systems underwent maintenance and inspection. Measurement equipment including pressure, level, speed and temperature instruments were inspected, cleaned and maintained, and fire protection system inspection and maintenance was performed. Flue gas emission equipment inspection and maintenance, piping systems, tank and unit floor coating, epoxy and ebonite repairs and renewal, kiln and boiler manhole renewal, dioxin unit stainless steel filter and base plate renewal, condenser and cooling water unit cleaning with 500-bar air jets, boiler tube surface cleaning and boiler ash discharge system maintenance, scaffolding installation and dismantling due to work at height, pressure equipment pressure testing and renewal, and numerous other maintenance operations were performed."FIRST-TIME INTERVENTION"
In the successfully completed planned major maintenance, certain critical areas were also addressed for the first time. A 7% inclination that had developed in the secondary combustion kiln emergency flue section was successfully corrected through very comprehensive and technical work during this maintenance. Defective plates on the kiln side walls were replaced, and axis misalignment present in the steam boiler super heater collectors was also corrected during the major maintenance process. Insulation in the boiler radiation and steam heating zones was removed, corroded sections were repaired, and the Venturi, Lime and FK treatment facility floor epoxy coatings and grilles were renewed. Revision work was performed on the kiln natural gas burner ignition systems.SARAÇ TOOK THE OPERATOR'S SEAT
