Evonik Increases Architectural Paint Capacity

Evonik Expands Architectural Paint Additive Capacity European production capacity for TEGO® Phobe and TEGO® Viscoplus is being increased. Evonik's Coating Additives business line is expanding production capacity for TEGO® Phobe hydrophobic agents and TEGO® Viscoplus polyurethane thickeners, two additives used in architectural paints. The new production capacities will come online this month. Nadia Lenhardt, Head of Market Segmentation for EMEA Decorative Coatings, stated: "Our capacity increase addresses rising demand for architectural paint additives. The additional production capacity in Europe will not be limited to this region alone but will enhance global supply security." Hydrophobic agents are primarily used to provide water-repellent finishes to facade paints. Emulsions based on silicone resins such as TEGO® Phobe 1659 stand out particularly for their significant reduction in water absorption. Polysiloxanes such as TEGO® Phobe 1409 effectively create water-beading effect protection. The product range of TEGO® Viscoplus encompasses polyurethane thickeners tailored to customer requirements. TEGO® Viscoplus products are liquid and free of organic solvents. Thanks to their high compatibility properties, different products can be easily combined. Source
