Epoxy Thinners

First of all, I wish everyone good health. As you know, as Veser Kimyevi Maddeler A.Ş., we are a distributor of Huntsman Advanced Materials. As you know, in our sector, C12-14 alkyl glycidyl ether, known as AGE, is generally used to reduce the viscosity of epoxy. However, there are many more featured products available as viscosity reducers. There are thinners that reduce the viscosity of epoxy resin while providing chemical resistance to the system, do not change color, or reduce the resin viscosity much more compared to AGE. These products are defined as reactive thinners: Araldite DY-31, Araldite DY-D, Araldite DY-C and Araldite DY 3601. Let's examine these products. Araldite DY-31 / Reactive Thinner A low-viscosity, high-functional aliphatic reactive epoxy diluent (multifunctional polymer). It makes chemical-resistant coatings suitable and provides excellent cross-linking density. Product Advantages: • Does not change the Tg value of the product. • Provides mechanical advantage. • Develops chemical resistance. Application Areas: • Chemical-resistant coatings, • Construction anchor bolt adhesives, • Industrial adhesives. Araldite DY-D / Special Components Araldite DY-D is a bifunctional product and is defined as Diglycidylether of butanediol. Normally, when you thin the product with standard thinners, you may encounter color change problems. Araldite DY-D eliminates this problem. Additionally, Araldite DY-D provides the following properties to the product to which it is applied: • Provides high resistance to solvents and ammonia. • Shows resistance to acid and hot water. • Does not impair product hardness. • Is an effective thinner. (The product should not be added to resin at more than 20%.) Araldite DY-C / Special Components A bifunctional, aliphatic and reactive diluent for epoxy resins. Generally, both the epoxy hardener and epoxy resin are expected to provide chemical resistance to the system, but Araldite DY-C provides particularly high chemical resistance to organic solvents. Other properties of the product are as follows: • Almost no reduction in surface hardness. • Shows less yellowing tendency. • Provides high ammonia resistance. Araldite DY-3601 / Special Components A bifunctional, aliphatic and reactive diluent for epoxy resins. Araldite DY-3601 generally adds flexibility to the system. It provides particular benefits, especially in electronic products and vehicle engines. Araldite DY-T / Special Components A low-viscosity epoxy diluent with high functionality. It provides excellent cross-linking density that makes chemical-resistant coatings suitable. Product Advantages: • Does not change the Tg value of the product. • Prevents product fracture. • Develops chemical resistance. Application Areas: • Used in chemical-resistant coatings. • Used in primers for metal and concrete.
