DYO Launches "Value Project for Tomorrow"

DYO adds value to life with its Corporate Social Responsibility Project "Value for Tomorrow". The "Value for Tomorrow" Project, designed in accordance with sustainability principles, was implemented under three different headings: "Value for Learning", "Value for Craftsmanship" and "Value for Schools".

Under the project conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, the Vocational Qualifications Authority and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, school painting standards were scientifically determined for the first time in Turkey.

The School Painting Guide prepared under DYO's leadership was sent to all schools across Turkey following a protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education.

According to research conducted, color selections made based on the comfort of the physical environment of schools and the suitability of spaces increase student school success and productivity by 25%. DYO's long-term project will be continued in different areas in the coming periods.

DYO introduced the Value for Tomorrow Project at a press conference it organized. At the meeting, where information about the work carried out in 2016 was provided and project objectives were presented:

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hilmi Çolakoğlu, Vocational Qualifications Authority Examination and Certification Department Head Mehmet Ordukaya and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University School of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Burçin Cem Arabacıoğlu each made a speech.

The project, which aims to reach a better future by creating "Value for Tomorrow" through sustainability practices based on scientific data and foundations, first said "Value for Learning".

An advisory board composed of academics from the School of Architecture and Department of Educational Sciences at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University prepared educational content providing information about color, space usage, heat and light elements.

During the 2015-2016 academic year, 1,025 training sessions were conducted in 66 schools across 10 provinces, reaching over 25,000 students in grades 2, 3 and 4 and 1,018 teachers.

The aim was for children to improve their quality of life and achievements through the knowledge gained in training, and to raise awareness about aesthetic values. Training was also provided to administrators, classroom teachers and school-family association members working in schools where educational practices under the project were implemented.

Under the "Value for Craftsmanship" project, implemented under the umbrella of "Value for Tomorrow", 219 painting craftsmen across 10 provinces in Turkey received 1,300 hours of training from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Craftsmen holding Professional Qualifications Certificates experienced color and space composition from an architect's perspective through the training.

With DYO's "Value for Schools" project, implemented under the Value for Tomorrow initiative, a first in Turkey was achieved and the School Painting Guide was prepared establishing standards with scientific content.

The School Painting Guide, which includes color and paint options based on elements such as color, space and light, with the aim of improving and enhancing the quality of school spaces where our children spend most of their time, was sent by the Ministry of National Education to 20,000 schools across Turkey.

Additionally, the guide was shared with one million teachers.

Ten schools located in 10 provinces—Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Samsun and Trabzon—were painted by DYO as implementation examples of the School Painting Guide accepted by the Ministry of National Education.

Within the project scope, 120 craftsmen holding Professional Qualifications Certificates trained by Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University used 34 tons of paint and completed the painting in a short period of one month, preparing the schools for the new academic year.
