DSM Announces Higher-Performance Matte Powder Coating Technology

Royal DSM, a global science company operating in the health, nutrition and materials sectors, has announced a new specialized Uralac® one-shot mat (OSM) powder coating HAA system that offers better reproducibility and provides lower cross-linker levels and curing temperatures compared to existing cross-linked mats. The new Uralac OSM powder coating resins have been launched globally and can be used for a wide range of industrial mat applications. Thanks to DSM's R&D efforts, the innovative Uralac OSM P8014 and P8019 resins represent a step forward in the performance of OSM powder coatings for industrial applications, offering several key user advantages. Unlike other commercially available OSM low-gloss powder coating solutions that require curing temperatures of 200°C, DSM's newly launched Uralac OSM system can be cured at 180°C for 10 minutes or at 160°C for 20 minutes, thus creating a lower production carbon footprint. Furthermore, the new Uralac OSM resins successfully address the common disadvantage of poor reproducibility in OSM mat powder coating solutions, meaning that with the new Uralac OSM resins, manufacturers can more easily replicate the same mat coating finish. Finally, the new Uralac OSM HAA system increases the cost effectiveness of mat powder coating solutions by providing lower cross-linker levels compared to other existing OSM alternative systems.
