In paints and coatings production technology, silicon-based polymers are frequently used to enhance paint properties or address potential problems in water and solvent-based systems.

Applications of silicones in paint formulations:

• DENSURF HR series, specialised silicon resin binders for metal paints requiring high-temperature and corrosion resistance • DENSURF AF series, micro and macro foam suppressants and defoamers developed for different paint types • DENSURF LA series, silicon-based surfactants that enhance paint surface properties and prevent paint defects • Silicon-based additives used in synthetic raw material paint production • Silicon emulsions providing water-repellent properties in interior and exterior facade paints, and silicon resin emulsions preferred in exterior facade paints that allow the surface to breathe

High-Temperature Resistance with Silicon Resins

Methyl silicon resins and phenyl/methyl silicon resins are used in the production of temperature-resistant solvent-based paints. Phenyl/Methyl and Methyl silicon resins are further divided into two categories based on application method: room-temperature curing and oven curing. Room-temperature curing systems are used under tetra n-butyl titanate (TnBT) catalysis. In these systems, the moisture content under ambient conditions is an important factor. Catalysed systems provide advantages for application areas where oven curing is not possible.

DENSURF HR 900 High-Temperature Resistant Silicon Resin

Densurf HR 900 is an air-drying silicon resin used as a binder in heat-resistant paints. When formulated with high thermal-resistance pigments such as aluminium and iron oxide, it enables the development of paints that withstand temperatures of 600-650 °C. It can be applied to surfaces requiring heat and corrosion resistance, such as factory stacks, heaters, ovens and grills.

DENSURF HR 900 - COMPETITOR 1 Comparison:

A minimum of 40% resin content is required to achieve high-temperature and corrosion resistance.
