Covestro Advances the Automotive Refinish Paint Industry
Covestro Advances Automotive Refinishing Paint Industry
A new ingenious technology greatly simplifies and accelerates the distribution of automotive topcoat paints in spray booths.
Clear coating and hardener are maintained in optimal mixing ratios and made ready for use in the shortest possible time. Testing conducted so far under realistic conditions at external workshops has proven highly successful.
The system was developed and won several years ago by Marc Schreiber, a Covestro employee who participated in the company's first Start-up Challenge, and the project showed such promise that it became a separate initiative called "go clear".
As founders, he and his team were temporarily released from their regular duties and provided with the financial resources needed to bring the development to series maturity. The purpose of Covestro's Start-up Challenge is to foster creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset.
In car repair shops and paint booths, a daily routine; raw materials for 2-component clear coatings are measured, weighed and mixed. For professionals, these are quick tasks they perform every day.
However, ultimately, they cost valuable time that could be spent on the actual painting work. For professionals, these are quick tasks they perform every day.
The Dockit® system contains clear coating and hardener in separate reservoirs within a capsule. Both components are already in the optimal mixing ratio.
