Participating in the Water-Based Paint Symposium 2016 held in New Orleans, Clariant presented to attendees innovative water-based light stabilizers and renewable-based polish additives that combine greater naturalness and sustainability with exceptional performance. Clariant's latest coating additives significantly improve the performance characteristics of water-based coatings compared to conventional solutions, positioning themselves as an option that can replace solvent-based systems for paints and coatings manufacturers. Hostavin ® Water-Based Dispersions produced by Clariant provide a critical increase in UV stability performance, helping to eliminate unwanted effects of adverse weather conditions on wood coatings such as color change, loss of gloss, cracking and swelling. Hostavin ® has the patented highest active content in water-dispersed light stabilizers. This provides a shelf life exceeding one year. Hostavin ® stands out for its ecological and toxicological safety and user-friendly sustainable profile, making it possible to easily mix the product when necessary and prepare it for use. Clariant's 100 percent renewable micronized Ceridust® polish, with its unique structure providing a soft feel, enables water-based wood coatings with scratch-resistant surfaces. In these coatings, raw materials are used only from renewable non-food plants Ceridust 8090 TP creates a durable and smooth surface alongside raw wood freshness. Micronized polymer increases the coefficient of friction while combining smoothness with very high scratch resistance in water-based formulations. Finely ground Ceridust 8091 TP provides exceptional smoothness and scratch resistance. In water-based wood coatings, it provides matness very close to conventional non-renewable polishes, enabling manufacturers to develop higher quality, more sustainable coatings.
