The 6th International Congress and Exhibition on Paints, Paint Raw Materials, Construction Chemicals, Adhesives and Raw Materials, Laboratory and Production Equipment – Paintistanbul & TURKCOAT – opened its doors on Thursday, 24 March 2016.

The exhibition opening, organized under the auspices of the Paint Manufacturers Association BOSAD and ARTKIM FUARCILIK, was conducted by BOSAD Board Chairman Ahmet Yiğitbaşı, İKMİB Chairman Murat AKYÜZ, European Paint, Printing Ink and Artist's Colours Industry Association (CEPE) President Van der Meulen, and Artkim Fuarcılık General Manager Ahmet Güler.

Opening Remarks Brought Optimism to the Sector

Speaking at the opening, moderated by news presenter Gökay Kalaycıoğlu, Yiğitbaşı highlighted that Turkey is Europe's 5th largest paint production center, given its production, investment and export capabilities, noting that the global paint market has reached USD 100 billion, while Turkey's market stands at USD 3 billion.

Yiğitbaşı emphasized the contribution such events make to Turkey's national industry and economy.

İKMİB Chairman Murat Akyüz stated in his remarks that the sector, with production capacity reaching 900 thousand tonnes and export power approaching USD 1 billion, ranks among Turkey's locomotive sectors, and that such exhibitions play an important role in enhancing the export potential of commercial and purchasing delegations.

Speaking on behalf of Artkim Fuarcılık, Ahmet Güler noted that in 2014, the two major paints and coatings exhibitions in Turkey – Paintistanbul and TURKCOAT Coatings Show Eurasia – merged under one roof and continued as a single organization under the slogan "Strength in Unity." Güler stated that the exhibition, which hosted leading domestic and foreign companies in the paint and auxiliary sectors, accommodated nearly 6,500 visitors across a total area of 9,605 m², with 10% coming from abroad, and that participating companies were highly satisfied with the business connections established.

All Components of the Paint Sector Were Represented at the Exhibition

Paintistanbul & TURKCOAT 2016, organized biannually and regarded as the most important and comprehensive meeting platform for the sector as Europe's 5th largest paint producer, featured functional coatings, construction paints, automotive paints, industrial paints, printing inks, adhesives, insulation and coating materials, and innovative products.

The exhibition, where innovative products and services were presented to domestic and international visitors, also served as a bridge between manufacturers and potential buyers for new business connections.

The Turkish paint sector, which holds 2% of the global paint market, has a size of USD 2.2 billion excluding exports. Ranked as Europe's 5th largest producer, the sector aims to increase its exports to USD 3 billion by 2023.
