BASF has made the list of top 50 companies in diversity rankings for the fourth consecutive year, prepared by DiversityInc, rising four positions from the previous year to rank 24th in 2016. The list was announced on 19 April at an event held in New York attended by 900 executives from US business. DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti commented on the matter: "BASF significantly increased the representation of women in management levels and surpassed the US company average of 26.8 percent in this area. In addition to making progress on criteria that demonstrate the tangible impacts of leadership behaviors on diversity, the company entered the top 25 firms this year in advancing diversity in factories through collaboration with organizations such as the National Association of Manufacturers." BASF Corporation President and CEO Wayne Smith stated: "We cannot overlook the value of diversity and inclusion while creating chemistry for a sustainable future. Individuals with different backgrounds and experiences bring new ideas and perspectives. Diversity strengthens us. If we turn differences into advantage, we can do our best as BASF," he said. To be included in DiversityInc's top 50 list, companies must employ at least 1,000 people in the United States. Each company's ranking is determined objectively according to 183 different criteria from a survey consisting of 300 questions. The four main categories with equal weight in the measurement are: CEO/Leadership Commitment, Talent Pipeline, Fair Talent Development, and Supplier Diversity. Patricia Rossman, senior executive responsible for diversity at BASF Corporation, explained the company's approach to the matter: "We want to deepen executive training programs to advance our diversity and inclusion. We are working to give leaders greater responsibility in growth and change."Advertisement
