Axalta Breaks Ground on State-of-the-Art Facility in the Netherlands

Axalta, one of the world's leading suppliers of liquid and powder paints, laid the foundation stone on 19 June for a new state-of-the-art facility spanning 7,250 square meters in the Netherlands to support its automotive refinish business. The new facility stands out for its state-of-the-art and energy-saving features. Construction at the Tiel site is expected to be completed by mid-2021. Tiel Municipal Council Member Ben Brink and Axalta's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Regional Director Yves Kerstens attended the ceremony held to celebrate the event, along with members of Axalta's European and Netherlands management team. Axalta's EMEA Regional Director Yves Kerstens stated, "This investment in this facility is vital to our future growth and the long-term success of our Automotive Refinish business in the Netherlands and ultimately for the entire Axalta organization.

Our Tiel facility demonstrates our commitment to making Axalta a business partner for our customers that remains unaffected by potential future changes, and with this facility we will be positioned perfectly to meet our customers' growing automotive refinish needs" he expressed. Production of Axalta's global automotive refinish brands Cromax®, Spies Hecker, Standox, Syrox™ and Metalak BV will take place at this new facility, Business Park Medel. Once completed, the facility will contain over three floors of office space, a warehouse, and training areas where automotive refinish specialists will receive instruction using state-of-the-art and advanced techniques to perform the highest quality automotive refinish work. The facility will also feature a separate mixing room. This facility is a direct distribution point for Axalta serving both high-volume customers and supporting local color development. Kerstens continued, "The new Training Center in Tiel underscores Axalta's commitment to our customers. This facility, along with training programs, will help customers become more effective and efficient. Training provided from 47 Axalta facilities around the world will enhance our customers' business performance." The Tiel facility will follow the opening of two Training Centers in 2019, one in Midrand, South Africa, and one in Sydney, Australia. Business Park Medel is a modern business park focused on green management, sustainability and safety. Being located in the center of the Netherlands provides easy access to major transportation routes, positioning Axalta close to all its customers throughout the country.
