Arkema's Coating Product Receives Bio-based Product Label

Arkema announced that Synaqua 4856 alkyd has been approved to carry the USDA Certified Biobased Product label. Synaqua 4856 alkyd is made from 97% biobased raw materials, predominantly derived from Nordic forestry by-products, and contains no APEO, ammonia, solvents, or plasticizers. Synaqua 4856 alkyd helps formulators achieve a wide range of benefits in interior wall paint and primer formulations, including gloss potential, chemical and rub resistance, hardness development, and more. Chantal Roidot, global marketing manager for architectural coatings, stated: "The USDA certified biobased label guarantees to customers that Synaqua 4856 Alkyd contains a USDA-approved amount of renewable biological content while delivering all the benefits of traditional products in terms of cost, availability, and performance." Roidot added: "As an industry champion for sustainability, Synaqua 4856 Alkyd is just one of Arkema's latest solutions to meet customers' performance and sustainability needs and one of our value-added sustainable engineered products." The biobased label is strictly monitored by the USDA to guarantee integrity. This label is part of the BioPreferred program, which is led by the USDA and helps develop and expand markets for biobased products. Biobased products are derived from plants and other forestry materials rather than conventional petroleum-based products.
