Chemline Coatings for Industrial Floors Against Corrosion from Aggressive Chemicals

In facilities working with aggressive chemicals such as acids, hydrocarbons, and caustics, protecting concrete floor surfaces, concrete tanks used in operations, and the drip trays beneath these tanks against corrosion from aggressive chemicals is critical. Concrete surface corrosion shortens both the lifespan of the facility's concrete surfaces and effectively the lifespan of the facility itself. Additionally, corrosion and deterioration of concrete surfaces can lead to chemical leaks that cause serious environmental problems, disrupted operations on deteriorating concrete surfaces, and continuous concrete repairs that result in both financial and time losses for the facility. Particularly in recent times, inspections of such facilities have increased significantly, and additional measures and regulations have begun to be imposed on facilities to prevent this corrosion. Regarding floor coatings, we can see various products from numerous domestic and foreign companies, but finding suitable coatings resistant to corrosion from heavy acids such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, and acetic acid is difficult. This is because these coatings require very strong cross-linking to prevent corrosion and must prevent molecular permeability—a capability possessed by only a few coatings, and at high cost.
Advanced Polymer Coatings, based in Cleveland, Ohio in the central United States, produces Chemline coatings that provide concrete surfaces with the same exceptional corrosion resistance it achieves on steel surfaces and protect concrete surfaces against corrosion from heavy chemicals.
The most significant difference between Chemline coatings and all other coatings is the strength of their cross-linking, which prevents chemicals from penetrating into the coating. Specifically, if we set the molecular structure of normal epoxy coatings at a value of 1, the "Siloxirane" molecule, the main component of Chemline coatings, has 28x784 times more cross-linking. This provides unique impermeability and non-absorption properties. The "Siloxirane" material is an invention of Donald Keehan, owner of Advanced Polymer Coatings, and is a patented product of Advanced Polymer Coatings used only by this company. There is no production facility anywhere in the world outside the United States.
Chemline coatings are used worldwide on concrete floors and concrete tanks to prevent corrosion of concrete surfaces from the chemicals mentioned above.
The only difference between applying the Chemline 784/32 product to concrete surfaces versus steel surfaces is that concrete surfaces are more recessed, protruding, and rough, requiring an additional "Chemline Primer" coat application. Prior to coating application, the required concrete standard is a minimum C30 standard and completion of the 21-day concrete curing period. If concrete repair is necessary before application, chemical-resistant concrete repair can be performed using "Chemline Caulk" before the "Chemline Primer" coat. The "Chemline Caulk" product has a curing time of only 8 hours depending on environmental conditions, meaning application can continue the following day.
Generally, application is completed quickly with the Chemline Primer coat on the concrete surface, followed by "Chemline 784/32 red" and "Chemline 784/32 grey" coats applied at one-day intervals.
Approximately 16 hours after application is complete, the surface can be walked on and even forklift traffic is possible, but for full chemical resistance, heat treatment is required. Chemical resistance can be achieved through curing at a surface temperature of 66 degrees for 18 hours.
