ACTEGA Launches PFAS-Free UV Coatings
ACTEGA Launches PFAS-Free UV Coatings
ACTEGA, a leading manufacturer of specialty coatings, inks, adhesives, sealants and compounds for the printing and packaging industry, has launched its new Ultrasheen® PakSafe UV coatings.
PakSafe UV coatings have undergone comprehensive regulatory analysis and have been specially formulated to exclude all California Proposition 65 substances and forever chemicals (PFAS - per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
This newly introduced environmentally friendly coating series not only complies with various legal requirements, but also maintains the scuff resistance and flexibility properties required for various high-quality packaging applications.
Through careful research and development, ACTEGA has successfully brought effective and compliant Ultrasheen® PakSafe UV coatings to market. PakSafe coatings meet the requirements of California Proposition 65 and EPA's "forever chemicals" ban without requiring additional testing or exemptions.
Customers can therefore be assured that PakSafe coatings do not contain California Proposition 65 chemicals (including TMPTA and benzophenone), do not contain PFAS chemicals, do not contain ECHA SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern), are CONEG / TPCH compliant (free of lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium) and are TSCA compliant.
Rob Andrews, Product Manager and Technical Service Director of ACTEGA Paper & Board, stated: "The launch of Ultrasheen® PakSafe UV Coatings represents a groundbreaking development for packaging applications while further raising the bar on safety and sustainability standards.
These new coatings enable printers and converters to coat their packaging safely. By ensuring our products meet all legal requirements, our customers can be relieved of concerns about complex industry standards and focus their efforts on delivering their own exceptional, more sustainable products."
