4th Istanbul Carbon Summit Begins on 26 April

Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, ITU Faculty Member and President of SÜT-D, noting that the business world must be prepared for a low-carbon economy and that we all have responsibilities for the future of our planet, said: "We recognize institutions, organizations and individuals who are stingy on carbon production and generous in environmental responsibility as Low Carbon Heroes."
The 4th Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) under the hosting of ITU, with the support of the International Emissions Trading Association, will take place on 26 April 2017.
Public institutions, local authorities, academia, the business world, civil society organizations, academia and youth will come together to discuss carbon management, carbon financing and Turkey's pathway in combating climate change from all angles.
'Low Carbon Heroes' Receive Awards
Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, ITU Faculty Member and President of SÜT-D, expressed that as SÜT-D they have been working to increase awareness of carbon management under the broader heading of sustainability management.
Explaining that they have been recognizing projects that have succeeded in reducing carbon emissions as 'Low Carbon Heroes' for three years, Prof. Dr. Karaosmanoğlu continued her remarks as follows:
"For us, our children's acquisition of a sustainable living culture is as important as our industry's achievements in greenhouse gas reduction. The surprise of our summit will be our Little Low Carbon Heroes. Young participants will draw attention to climate change mitigation through their performances at our summit."
What awaits you at the summit?
At the summit, developments following the United Nations Climate Change Framework Convention Conference of the Parties in Paris (COP21) and Marrakech (COP22) will be discussed, and the path to the Bonn Conference (COP23) to be held in November 2017 will be put on the table. The industry's position on Turkey's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction will be examined, and climate finance will be discussed in the 'Paris Agreement and Beyond' session.
In the 'Carbon Management and Industry' session, leading companies from different sectors will present their sustainability management and low-carbon economy strategies.
