Interview with Erhan Bacaksız, Group Manager at Mega Danışmanlık

We conducted a pleasant interview with Erhan Bacaksız, General Manager of Mega Danışmanlık Grup, about his professional background in the sector, the company's products for the paints and coatings industry, domestic and international sales activities, mission and vision. First of all, could you tell our readers about yourself, your education and your professional background in the sector?

After graduating from Yıldız Technical University's Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering in 1996, I started working at Mega as my first professional position. After taking a break for military service, I continued working at Mega as a Sales Engineer for several different products. Since then, my responsibilities at Mega have grown as I have traveled to nearly every industrial region in our country, working to understand customer needs and provide the most appropriate solutions.

Could you tell us about your company's development process since its establishment? Which sectors do you serve? Could you provide information about your service lines?

Our company, Mega Danışmanlık, Temsilcilik, Dış Ticaret A.Ş., which has been working in quality control and material testing equipment since 1987, ranks among Turkey's leading and recognized companies. Since 1992, it has organic connections with companies now among Mega Grup firms, such as Mega Elektronik Talaşlı İmalat Makineleri Ticaret A.Ş., ZET Redüktör Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Mega Makine Teknolojileri Ticaret A.Ş. Part of our work is also conducted under Ro-Mega Trade Srl, established in Romania. Our company, which holds an important position in our country both in sales and after-sales support, has regional offices in Ankara, Bursa and Eskişehir, in addition to our headquarters in Istanbul's Hasanpaşa district. The foremost characteristic of the Mega Danışmanlık brand has been its integration with industrial users in our country through our company slogan "The Measure of Your Quality" and its constant commitment to providing the best and highest quality service to every customer.

Could you provide detailed information about your product groups serving the paints and coatings sector and their characteristics?

We serve the paints and coatings sector with the British company Elcometer, which has over 65 years of experience. All Elcometer products are designed to comply with national and international standards. We can list our product groups under the following headings: Coating Inspection, Physical Test Equipment, Appearance, Concrete Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

Could you tell us about your domestic and international sales activities? Which regions do you primarily serve domestically and internationally?

Our activities encompass the sales and after-sales services of the world's leading quality control and testing equipment manufacturers within Turkey. Within this scope, we serve all of Turkey.

What can you say about Mega Danışmanlık's position in the sector and the features that differentiate you from your competitors?

By adopting the principle of continuous improvement; with the support and participation of all personnel, our company's quality policy is to be excellent in quality, reliable in meeting customer demands, fast and environmentally conscious. As senior management of the company, we declare that we accept compliance with legal conditions and procedures related to working life in accordance with this policy. Mega Danışmanlık, Temsilcilik, Dış Tic. A.Ş. plans realistic quality targets at the beginning of each year and monitors the realization rates. The methods and approaches to be followed to achieve the determined quality targets are decided. Resource requirements are identified and provided for carrying out work in accordance with quality strategies.

Could you provide information about your employee profile? What efforts are you making to improve your employees' performance?

We can divide our employees into four groups: field sales engineers, service engineers, office sales support staff, and office employees such as logistics and accounting. We place particular emphasis on ensuring that sales and service personnel receive necessary training from manufacturing companies so they can respond quickly to customer needs and demands. The much lower personnel turnover compared to competing companies ensures that our service team consists of experienced engineers. The best performance enhancer is customer satisfaction.

What kinds of services do you offer to ensure customer satisfaction and meet their expectations?

Our company has experienced personnel trained abroad for sales and after-sales support. Our ability to provide quick and reliable solution-focused responses to our customers and our stock-based operations are among the features that set us apart.

Could you provide information about your company's mission and vision?

As Mega Danışmanlık, we can summarize our mission into two groups as internal and external objectives. Our external objectives are: identifying new customers for quality control and material testing equipment, providing the most appropriate machines and equipment according to testing needs and adequate user training, and where necessary, providing after-sales service. Internal objectives include: having sufficient knowledge and human resources to provide adequate service efficiency, achieving growth in annual revenue and profitability, ensuring that employees have sufficient knowledge and satisfaction. Our vision is to be the pioneer of Turkey's market as a strong and reliable solution partner for quality control and material testing equipment users.

How is 2017 progressing for your company's targets? What would you like to say about your objectives and expectations?

Our company's broad product range provides opportunities to work in many sectors. Although some of these are experiencing certain stagnation, we are not behind previous years in paints and coatings testing equipment sales, and hoping that no unforeseen events occur in our country, we believe we will comfortably surpass our 2017 targets.

To know and introduce you better, could we learn what you do to relieve work stress and relax a bit?

I spend the time left from frequent travels with my family. I especially try to watch festival films.
