What Is Polyurethane?

Polyurethane is one of the most important and versatile materials in the chemical industry. This polymer, which stands out for its flexible and durable structure, appears in different forms and finds application in many areas of daily life. Polyurethane is formed by combining two main components called diisocyanate and polyol, and this mixture offers a wide range of products from foam to elastomers, adhesives to coatings.

First developed in the mid-20th century, polyurethane has become an indispensable part of modern industry. Today, this material is used in many sectors including construction, automotive, furniture, textiles and sports equipment. Polyurethane products are diversified to meet many different needs, particularly through their production in flexible and rigid forms.

The Role of Polyurethane Foam in Insulation

Polyurethane foam is one of the most preferred materials for thermal and acoustic insulation. It is widely used in building insulation, pipe wrapping and as a filler material. Thanks to the foam's rapid expansion and hardening when applied to a surface, gaps are completely filled and perfect isolation is achieved.

Beyond these, polyurethane is an ideal material for strong adhesives and protective coatings. When used in adhesive form, it provides a reliable solution for bonding different materials to each other. It is preferred as an effective adhesive on various surfaces such as wood, metal and plastic. When used as a coating material, it imparts resistance to surfaces against water and chemicals, which is ideal particularly for producing products resistant to harsh environmental conditions.
