Valmet Included in Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for Sixth Consecutive Year
Valmet has once again been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) with its Sustainability 360° approach, which it developed with the aim of continuous improvement of sustainable business practices.
Valmet, which has appeared on the list for the sixth consecutive time with its successful implementations, has thus been included in both the Dow Jones World and Europe Sustainability Indices.
This year (2019-2020) the DJSI World Index, which comprises three hundred and eighteen companies, evaluates the economic, environmental and social performance of companies.
Valmet CEO and President Pasi Laine commented: "The implementation of sustainable business practices forms the core of how Valmet works.
Maintaining our position in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index demonstrates that we increase our sustainability performance year on year, since continuous improvement is one of the key criteria for inclusion in this index.
Our systematically conducted sustainability agenda defines the concrete actions we will take in the years ahead, and we train our employees in a way that enables them to understand the role they play in achieving our targets.
Our success is based on the excellent work of all Valmet employees worldwide."
Valmet's sustainability agenda focuses on five main areas: "sustainable supply chain", "health, safety and environment"; "people and performance", "sustainable solutions" and "corporate citizenship". In 2019, Valmet received approvals from different institutions on sustainability matters.
In January, Valmet achieved the highest A grade in the climate programme ranking of the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), and in February it was recognized with the Bronze Sustainability Award in RobecoSAM's Annual Sustainability Yearbook 2019.
In April 2019, Valmet was also recognized as one of the founders of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe.
